Grass Fever

Darren loved running all over the grass this weekend. Dave cut it short so he could run without falling down.

This long weekend he will be with granny and grandpa up in Vernon. It should prove interesting since the house is not child proof and some areas are very dangerous for little ones. The lake for instance and the dock are things he will find of interest and we will have to keep a close watch on him.

However, it's going to be hard to get into trouble when his mom and granny take him shopping most of the time.

SPRING FEVER

Darren has had a flu for the past week and unfortunately passed whatever he had on to mommy. He started on Thursday last week and then I began on Sunday night. Today has been my first real day of health. He's been introduced to vomit and very disgusting diaper smells. He's also found out what vertigo is and he seems to be still affected by it. He keeps falling down and holding onto furniture for fear of his life spiralling into nothing.

Today was the first day I have seen him since Monday morning. He was with my mom, who happens to be the only one in the family not to be inflicted with the vile disease. He ran screaming when he saw me come through mom's door to pick him up, arms outstretched. He didn't let me out of his sight all night.

Dave also experienced this same greeting and I think he finally felt Darren's unconditional love. It was memorable and I will always remember it.

Bbq season is here and we're having fun finding things for Darren to experience outside. I bought him a blow up pool and beach ball and floating ring. There won't be any water in it for some time but it will work very well for a play yard on the grass. He still hasn't figured out how to climb yet so this will work for a while. And when he figures it out it won't be such a fall landing in the grass. Our backyard is not child proof with the old yard still in disrepair so it's important to keep him safe and somewhat confined. He doesn't like walking on the grass but he likes touching it. We put him in the grass and he stands very still and then whips the grass and laughs.

He has this facination for bowls now after our sick week. He makes noises sometimes with them, little or big doesn't seem to matter.

He's running a good clip now and it's hard to keep up to him as dad has found out. Darren's quicker now.
