PNE
August 19, 2003
Well it was a tough day for Darren. First we parked in the shade and had a little snack, then we walked all over to the other side of the fairgrounds. That's when we had a little nap. We took a tour through the showcase building and checked out some merchandise. Then we hit the Superdogs show. We were a little early so we snacked a little more and then Darren proceeded to sleep through the whole show on granny's shoulder. We couldn't believe he was sleeping through all the loud noises and cheering from the crowd. It was unbelievable. Then I chowed down on some donuts and mom got her candy apple and we were done for the day. He slept all the way home. Tough huh?

New Girlfriends
August 16, 2003
We visited with my best friend Becci and her three children, Everrah, Elliott, and Chloe. Chloe and Darren hit it off right away. Chloe just discovered her tongue and shared it with all of us. She's 13 days older than Darren so they are both Pisces. Darren seems to like her alot. One of the pictures below describes it all. This is his other girlfriend Hailey. Isn't she cute! She was born last October. We were trying these new glasses out in the store.

Swim Time
August 13, 2003
Today was our first time in a pool. Darren put on his little swimmer's diaper and off he went. He was intrigued for most of the swim and laughed a little bit here and there. He couldn't grasp the fact that we were all swimming in a big bath together. He kicked his feet the whole time we were in the pool and it didn't seem to matter which way he was facing the water either. Kari invited us over to use her pool and visit for a while. Thanks!

Our Camping Experience
Oregon was foggy indeed, on the coast that is, and it was awesome. I took some pictures of the fog but it doesn't do it justice. As the trip grew Darren was increasingly resistant to sitting in the carseat. We finally gave in and bought a forward facing booster seat. Now he doesn't scream at all which is a relief to his chauffeur. We slept in a tent and Darren slept in his crib. Our tent was big enough to accommodate such an arrangement. We slept a couple of nights in the rv with mom & dad. It was convenient having the rv since I am still breastfeeding. Even with everyone talking around the campfire he slept through it all. He never woke up once the whole trip. He has figured out that he wants the same food that everyone else eats so that was a problem but we've started his feeding routine at meal times. He eats cereal and gerber food and he loves it but nothing compares to breastmilk. Darren met his great grandmother Stewart, great uncle Ray, and great aunt Kathy on the Oregon coast and he loved every minute of it. He giggled at gramma's dog when it barked. It was an enjoyable visit.
On the way back home we met lots of people for camping on Whidbey Island. We did the usual visit to Fort Casey and Anacortes and had basically a great time. We took over two campsites because there were 16 of us. I reserve the campsites every year on the same weekend and we'll be doing it again next year I'm sure. Darren will be 17 months next time we go so that'll be exciting for us.
