My understanding is a little different. The difference between the two sizes (three if you count the one that fit the proflex bikes exactly without spacers) is that on the long head tube version the shock assembly and the distace between the mounting bolts on the legs are both longer by an inch and a half or so. That's why leg sets come in the long and short version. The shock is actually the same unit but the aluminum piece that mounts it into fork on the bottom side is longer on the long version. It is true that I could use this long version fork but it would require me to use about 2 inches of spacers and would result in my handelbars moving from where I like them (I can't just flip my stem upside down because it would then interfear witht he top of the fork when it's fully compressed.)Welcome Dave!
I can get the aluminum shock end from noleen (i'll probably be sending it in for a rebuild anyway), but i haven't yet found a set of legs for a reasonable price.
medium?
Hey guys, I recently broke the Noleen rear shock on my Proflex 857. Does anybody know a good way to modify the the rear to accept a newer Fox or Manitou shock?
thanks,
mark
Proflex 857 frame, polished aluminium 20" (large), carbon swingarm.
My mate has one for sale just want to see if any interest out there. Price not determined yet, but will be well under £100. Easton custom ProGram aluminium tubing, carbon rear swingarm. Has coil spring conversion on ODS shock.
Anybody interested? Located near Loughborough, UK.
Here is a pic of it as a complete bike. It'll be much shinier than in the picture as that was after some serious riding!!
Pictures Please!!
I'd be interested, dunnae matter aboot smartshock, long as its got a basic dumb shock!
Cheers signalMTB- I found them on ebay......thought 'they sound like the same kind the chap on idriders has...' same forks!!
Was lookin' for uk seller, but I'll keep an eye on the auction- $30 shipping is ok!
cheers,

its exactly what he says it is a 1990 this is the first pro-flex produced before the 550 750 950 range with dayglow swing arms which actually came in 1990-1991 then followed my 862 design same as your 753. i know a fair bit about this era check out my ramblings in how long you rode pro-flex for topic.
hey shovelon are all them bikes listed after your post what you own or have owned cos if you still own em you gonna have to make some room. in the pics orange posted check out the pro-am and the master cos i owned both bikes thats how i got into pro-flexs. should anyone come across a master 12" as pictured but with the u-brake removed and brake bosses brazed on the top side of the seatstay then boys you have my old bike which belonged to jez avery a good bit of history.congrats on your new bike.
never seen a small 656 before, bit unusual:I have not seen that either. Look at the bent top tube.

Hi guys. I'm new here. Was recommended by Orange though.
I'm after a newer Proflex frame and Crosslink forks. Something similar to 855, 955 and newer not one of the K2 models though. Preferably noleen coil shocks (but not fussed) and an aluminium swing arm. Is that a bit too picky?

Are the 005 and 006 kits still available thru Iron Horse? If so, what do they want for each? The Buy It Now price seems like a stretch, IMO.

Had a parlez with Callum at RDS couple of weeks ago.Hammer is correct....dont know how often he pops in here,If there is such a beast I am sure Callum has it.
He and Mike, "The Hammer" aren't making anymore HammerHeads because demand has dropped off.
He said he has a few left, I wanted a one for an 856 and he said he would look in the loft for it.
He hasnt got back to me so I'm thinking he hasnt got any!
Callum runs Rapid Descent from home as well as holding down a full time job during the day and usually he will respond given time.
Mr752
Maybe try PM'ing Mike, think his username is HAMMER, If I'm wrong I'm sure someone can correct me! ::)
Or, how about that DISC adapter made out of flat CARBON sheeting thatI saw in a photo here ..Me too.
Any info on that ??
Thanks
Could seriously consider bidding on that Oz.I paid $499 US dollars for my OzM frame which is the same frame but a different sticker. I have seen frames go for $400 to $600 here in the States. Whole bikes for over $1000.
What sought of price would be realistic for that frame?
Just watching it for now until I know what max bid to put in.
Come on everyone with an Oz give me a clue!!

A bottom spring washer for a NR
1/3 of my morning commute (downhill) is on fast rocky track, one of the many obstacles threw the bike up with a loud crack, on landing the back end was all over the place so I thought I had a pinch puncture. No time to look down though, that section's tricky. Eventually sat down, lower than I expected; and got a chance to look down...
Coil on the swingarm shock on the bump stop.
The bottom spring washer just pushed through!
Thing is, it's my commute set up and I haven't got the race bike rebuilt yet.So I'm a bit desperatePM or post please, I can PayPal you for it!

Yeah, I saw it. Can anyone tell what size it is?
i am gonna say large....frame does not look "dwarfed" by the wheels, though without tyres maybe not quite as normally perceived.Hmmm not so sure now..Maybe ask the question?
Luke, as I recall, the Medium and Large(only sizes available in carbon) were the same length in top tube, with the only difference of 1 inch shorter from bb center to top of seat mast. Simon had both, and Jeffhop has the medium right now so they could chime in.i am gonna say large....frame does not look "dwarfed" by the wheels, though without tyres maybe not quite as normally perceived.Hmmm not so sure now..Maybe ask the question?
OK so it’s a Medium ; and the seller would be prepared to ship over the pond.
I can’t find ANY size indication on my 5500…
It’s 53cm center to top of seat clamp can anyone tell me what size it is please.
Could be useful to have a spare kicking around, and the wheels look fun.
Couldn’t help laughing at how he says it’s super light… he repeated that in his reply to me…

My Oz measures 52.5cm to top of alum seatmast insert, and 19 inches at the carbon seatmast/toptube junction, which would tell me that it is a large. And I know that mine is a large.

That's right Colin, and does make sense. Beg to differ, but the top tube length is just short of 1" (actually 25mm) longer on a Large and the leg length is the same.
Note that this is very difficult to measure because it is a virtual measurement from the of the top of the headtube to a horizontal point in the centre of the seat tube {effectively the middle of the seat post}
The only differences between a Med & Large (according to K2) are:
Top Tube ("A" in diagram)
MD 22.13" 562mm
LG 23.11" 587mm
Wheelbase ("D" in diagram)(increase is all forwards of the BB)
MD 42.01" 1067mm
LG 42.99" 1092mm
Bottom Bracket to Seat mast top is the same. ("K" in diagram)
MD 19.61" 498mm
LG 19.61" 498mm
(http://idriders.com/proflex/coppermine/albums/userpics/10284/geom-dia.gif)
I have both and the difference is so minimal as to be Unnoticeable (to me).
Col.
I just can't get on with full sus bikes, I have tried for years to do it but just can't, prob from too many years of being a roadie.if you are a roadie you should have a nice pedaling style. You maintain momentum on a fs bike...hammer it only as a last resort, and you dont have to avoid or back off where you do on a HT....just keep predalling..
I need a 225 or 250 lb spring. Where are you located?I think its around that range but not sure. I am 59911 US. Shipping charges USPS would probably be between $5-10.
Hey Rich. Can't help on the fork bits but I was wondering if you are still running a Talas shock on the crosslink? Did you ever come up with a print or drawing on your top adaptors? I'm curious because I have a Swinger three way that is 7.787 " and I would like to try it on the front to replace the smart shock

Here's another BEAST on eBay...this one has been posted for sale before, but nobody ever bid on it...Definately a 1997. Probably a large because of reletive length head tube. Magura hydraulics are missing. I bet elastomers in forks are shot.

The seller said the following when I asked them for details on the size, shocks, etc...
"Bike measures 20" from center of crank to seat post. It has a Noleen rear
shock, Girvin Chubby front forks, 700 ESP shifters, Tektro brakes. I do not
know the year of this. Don't see any K2 on it."

It's amazing what you'll find on ebay when you should be studying ::)
Proflex 756 with springs...I thought the 75x had MCU/elastomers in 1996, but the shocks look like ODS upgrades...Frame size is M...And you know what? That was a size small. If you look at the upper shock screw going thru the top tube, that indicates a small.

thats a odd bike...the 857 would have had a carbon swingarm, that looks like a 757 swingarm, and the forks look like they are vector legs on a crosslink linkage.....Not saying its not worth pursuing,...

yet another bike that might be a good fit for my 'old lady'. ;D
Definately a small, look at the upper shock mount hole going thru the toptube.
they didnt have any problems in themselves but they had a slightly different shock(to enable it to fit between the gussets of the shock mount). All the other sizes used a "normal" shockThat is right. The small frame has a cutout in the toptube, and for some reason they left some material in the toptube that created the need for a notch in the shock body. So hence you are hemmed in by that notch if the shock fails, which is why the previous owner gave up on the bike.
its with a very heavy heart that im having to put my beloved oz up for sale,

I reckon our friend Callum is gong to do what I was going to do.
He's going to take moulds of the frame and start producing them !!!!!!!!
There is a company in st Annes Chapel near Gunnislake Cornwall that can make the moulds to do the job.
Me thinks this is what he is up to
Not completely certain, but this looks like it might be a 4000? Pix in the ad don't show any decals specifying the model, but there is another 4000 posted and it looks very similar...

I was looking fr some a while back and someone posted a link to a "Brand X" cable stop at CahinReactionycles.com. I happened to have some cable adjusters from an old set of Bing carbs that worked as well.

Polished Animal frame with carbon swing arm. Is this Orange's old one?
Simon, that OZ//4500/5500 rear swingarm will fit a 4000 as well, right? I'd be interested in that particularly because of the reaming you did (I don't have a reamer), but only if you machine me an aluminum spindle and the needed spacers (for which I'd pay extra). ;-) I have the bearings. I tried to do it myself but couldn't get my lathe to stop turning a slight taper :-/
Lemme know...
- Doug
Hi Simon,
Let me print the drawings and talk to my local machine shop...I'm sure they can do the work, it just comes down to how much it will cost. I even have the 6061 bar stock...I just need the shaft and spacers. If their work wont be too expensive then I'll get back in touch with you.
Thanks,
- Doug :-)
I would like the stem and pedals if still available.
Cheers
Here is a look at an 854 that I recently acquired and will very shortly be up for sale. The only possible change from the bike pictured would be if I can fit the Ti spring onto a Vector fork for the 855 I am building up.
Anyway, http://www.bicyclegroup.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6698 (http://www.bicyclegroup.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6698) take a look and PM me if you might be interested or know someone who is.

haha not me :) I'm sticking with one for the time being.Oh yeah, I remember that guy. Built a bike on donated parts. Now he scores this.

Hopefully this is the correct forum to ask this question... The seller is the oriignal owner of this ProFlex 5000 and he is offerring the bike to me but is not sure on what it should go for nowadays. He rarely rides it anymore and except for some scuff marks on the RD and some rubbing on the frame from the cable housing it's in pretty good shape, imo. After seeing the details what would be a reasonable price to ask for the bike?$600 would be my guess. I say that because of the xtr hardware, carbon bars and post, and King rear hub. Without those upgrades I would put it at $500.
Details:

Hello all,Does that mean you are in the "Tallboy League" :D
I'm entertaining the idea of switching my 4000 frame to the carbon/OZ style...just wondering if anyone out there has one available in the Way Big size...I already have the swingarm and other goodies, but might consider paying for those as well if someone doesn't want to break up a set.
Thanks in advance!
- Doug
Just a follow up to Shovelon's revelation re: OZ frames...so if I have a Way Big 4000, which has a head tube (not steerer) of about 6 1/4", then going to a large OZ frame would likely cause me to have to use a ton of spacers on the steerer once I install my Way Big fork, right? Any idea of the headtube length on the large OZ frame?

Hi there,
I have a LTK (Long Travel Kit) available for 855 955 856. It has not been used much and is in excellent condition. It is a bullet proof design so there are not really any wearable parts on it.
I would like $150 USD for it, but no reasonable offer will be refused. :)
Thanks!

Hello all,Don't forget that the same pivot kit works for the x57 series too. I have the same set in my 957 as well as my Oz.
. The set is the pivot shaft (for the K2 4000/4500/5000/5500), threaded on both sides in M8x1.25, plus the 4 2mm spacers.
Anyone else interested (or think they can crank me out a set for less)?
- Doug :-)
Hi Terry,I would supply the material to him. McMaster.com has 7075 rod for pretty cheap, and they can give you material certs too. You could have the material drop shipped to his facility after you pay with credit card. Or you could ask him to supply material and forward a copy of the material cert.
I didn't know that the pivots were the same for the X57. As for the material, I think we had discussed 6061 instead of 7075. Not sure where I got that in my head. The material specs for 7075 make it seem about twice as strong as 6061, so I'll get back to the machinist.
How would you propose I verify that the material is truly 7075 after I receive the parts? I have no idea how to do that :-/
Thanks!
- Doug :-)
Hi,
is anyone interested in buying my K2 5500?
Hi. I have a Vector 2 fork with rock hard elastometers.Want to replace with spring and shock system. Not able to pay 200$ for aftermarket unit.Looking for something much more affordable. If anybody has something that would fit my fork for sale, please send me a line at big_steph666@hotmail.com.Thank you
They come up fairly regulary on ebay. I picked up a complete fork a few months back. It needs a rebuild on the linkages but the leg are fine. You just have to keep a look out.
i dont know a great deal about proflex as all i can find is on chat forums where they say their still up there with the best.

Now this is a proper item worth bidding on! Remember this model climbs like a billy goat! Strip it and add a few choice parts and you have a sub 11kg bike for peanuts. ;DAppears to be a size large. ;)

Source for 756 rear strut assembly?
Hoping I might find a lead here...I've got an opportunity to pick up a 756 frameset for basically nothing. Everything looks and feels to be in great shape, but it is missing the entire rear strut assembly. Anybody have one for sale or know of a good place to look (besides ebay)?
I'd like to build this up as a third bike (the only dual suspension) and can be patient, but I dont know whether or how often these might become available.
Thanks for any help!

just for clarity - what's your asking price? And when you say 'big' do you mean 'Large' or 'Way Big'?

I did, yes - just got to pick it up now - really looking forward to seeing it, just not the 500 mile round trip to get it.You lucky dog. Are you going to restore it to is original spec? Personally I like the graphics of the OzM. The frames are identical. A guy named gilm on the Retrobike forum does decals.
nice one ;D can't you send a courier to collect?

That disk brake adapter sparks my interest. The button retainers just scream cool. I am also interested what the swingarm pivot looks like inside. The rear shock adapter is something I have only seen once.
Good find!

what was the story behind the 959?I'd be interested in this also
hence the decal set that made its way around the forum? (I have a copy). So how is it likely that that particular bike got called 959 - a former member here owned it at some point?thats the assumption...and one of the 959's (Mike Billetts aka Hammer) was stolen

957 was the polished version of the 857 wasn't it?Yep. The natural progression would be 958(1998), 959(1999).

Hi, Has anyone out there got a link, for somewhere that can sell a conversion kit for the 856, the rear shock (melted rubber) to a spring. Great if you have.http://www.rapiddescentscotland.co.uk
These may work as replacement spacers, but I would open the hole and install a rubber grommet or such to protect the shaft.

OK guys this is a sticky where you can reply and paste links to any interesting stuff for sale.
Obviously the idea it is K2 or Proflex related,be it frames forks whole bikes or aftermarket parts for our bikes
It doesnt have to be Ebay and since where are a whole of the World forum i guess it can be items for sale from anywhere
I will come through every now and then and remove the outdated links
If a long discussion ensues i may start a new thread about the particular item,ie the team bike thread
Hello.
I'm new here but joined a while back after picking up an original (down to the tyres) Proflex 552. I've just found the following unidentified Proflex going very cheap on e-bay in Sydney and as much as I'd love to put in a bid, I don't think my wife would be too forgiving.

Hello,I can make out that it is indeed a '97. As a 20" does it say WayBig on the seat stay just below the toptube? Is the Effective top tube length 24". That would confirm it is a WayBig.
I have a Proflex Beast for sale in Red & Black. I think from looking through other threads that it may be a '97'. I have owned the bike for 6 years & used it a few times each year. It has been serviced a few times & recently had a new cassette a chain fitted. My knowledge of bikes is minimal so cannot give you any technical info. I have been told it is a size 20".
I was advised through the bike radar forum to advertise it here. Can anyone give me an indication of value?
Located in Haworth, West Yorkshire.
Thanks
Kevin
Hi Terry,Large is the most common and the most traded. The best way to measure the frame is effective top tube. Horizontally from center of seatmast to center of headtube. A size large is 23". A size Waybig(or Xlarge would be 24"+).
It does not say waybig anywhere. Does this effect the value? Would you advise placing on ebay & placing the link here?
Thanks
Kevin

Hi guys tis me again.Simon used an alum Evo swingarm, but he had to cutout parts to clear the frame and weld inserts. Otherwise no alum swingarm will work off the shelf.
I need something perhaps, and I need some advice.
The OZM carbon frame, has anyone used an alloy swinging arm on one ?
If so which swinging arm did/would you use
And does anyone have a spare one they may want to sell ?
Thanks shovelon, looks like the same swinger as the flying monkey uses !!Maybe someone would swap for a carbon one.
Anyone out there got a spare one so I could adapt it ?
Look at this diagram to identify what parts are missing, compile a list and we'll see what we can do.
(Maybe start a new thread)

It's of a Vector II, but a lot is common and will at least give us an idea.
If it was a "FleaBay" special, then have you considered returning it for a refund, or maybe get a partial refund if he didn't honestly describe it?
Sellers are obliged to list any defects or missing parts of the item, don't let dodgy sellers get away with it!
eBay are very supportive of Sellers at the moment!

Guys, I just drug out my old Proflex 756. It's been in storage for 6 years but is in good shape. I'm interested in selling the entire bike (frame size is 20"). I put some air in the tires today and road it for about 10 minutes. Everything seems to work just fine. It could obviously use a good bath and some lube, but there is nothing wrong with her as far as I can tell. The only mods I made to this bike are coil over front and back to replace the elastomers and clipless petals. I'm far from an expert on this bike (especially compared to you guys!) but I would be happy to send pics if you're interested. Make me an offer and help me find the old girl a new home. It's probably best to contact me at becarter(at)gmail.com
The bike is exactly like this one except I went with red springs in stead of yellow - just wanted to be different ;)

Oh sure, just post it for all the world to see ;-)Yep, I am watching that too. ;)
What do you want from the frame, Terry, I'd love to have that shock ;-)That shock is what I was looking at too, as it has the cone end maybe. Since I have a good inventory of carbon swinarms, it is all yours.
Woohoo! Found a ProFlex Animal on Craigslist in Everett WA. Got it for 250. It'll need some work on the bb and maybe a chainring, freewheel and chain but the rest is adjustments. Now I have two to maintain along with a carbon link fork from cl a couple weeks ago for 50. When someone comes to visit, we can attack the park in the dark with lights.
There's another proflex on craigslist here in town but it's a small. http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/bik/1631686668.html
The little dropout broke off of my 755 swingarm, right where the derailleur hanger connects. In fact the bolt holding the hanger on was the only thing holding it all together. I don't think it is repairable, there's just not enough material there to weld it. So does anyone have a replacement swingarm available? Or does anyone think this actually could be repaired?Got any pictures? Or why not just weld the hanger onto the swingarm?
Has anyone got a spare rear strut for a 856 they want to sell.If it's the same as a 96 beast strut I have one,
Cheers

No photo so hard to tell. You know I have the same problem on occasion where I don't see the image. In this case I do see it and it is a very clean blue evo type, with a carbon swingarm.

Sorry, yes it is a 4000. The picture was there when I posted but it doesn't show for me now either. It is a 1998 large frame with fully functional ELT fork. The original Sachs chain is even in great shape. Bar ends and Girvin SPD pedals are scratched up, but that is about it. I am thinking of selling for a FS 29'er, but don't know what it is worth. It's a great bike but with the state of my garage I need to get rid of one to add another. I'll add the pic from another source and a hyperlink.

Hello All!I've seen some alum ones on ebay. Seemed like they would work ok.
I'm preparing my 954 for sale, but realized the plastic separator washer that fits between the two elastomers has started to crack apart. This is for the rear (ODS?) shock, but I think all separators are the same, maybe?
I've sent a note to Callum, but does anyone else know of any replacements for this piece?
Many thanks in advance,
Dan.

I can't seen to find anything on eBay yet.
What's the best way to describe these things?

Ran across a fire sale on a Proflexus minimus. Small red *55 or *56 Animal frame, never been built and a couple of ODS shocks plus a red lower link for a Girvin Vector. He also had an earlier frame, like the *54 but with a rear mounted swing arm, likewise never been built and a butt-load of flex stems. I scored the animal and the lower link and the ODS and passed on the rest. The small parts were in the original blister packs which were... well, blistered but the parts were totally okay.
Crapola! I am almost to where I could build a third bike and be a total Ho-Flex.
Forgot, there were a bunch of the stems with the integral upper shock mounts new in the box too.

Re: the Noleen NR 2 rear shocks.. I will be meeting the guy later this week and plan to by all his stock. He has been selling them to Harley Davidson riders. Seems that when they build up a hard tail motorcycle they then need to put springs and shocks on the seat. So, when you see one of these flabby bad boy wannabe's rumbling by, he may be supported by parts we can use. I'll let him know that I am interested in any other Proflex related bits as well.
Rear disc adaptor up on US ebay. If seller will not post overseas I can help there and forward it on.

Greetings from New Zealand. Just bought a Vector 2 fork for my Kirk after falling in love with my friend's fork. The Urethane is puss and I see RDS store has gone :(Is it an oil shock or a grease shock(friction). A cor spring will not work with a grease shock
Anyone got a COR spring or other shock they can sell me?
Cheers.

Well you remember the red Girvin Vector lower link that I posted here a while back, eh? I got my just desserts there from a buyer in Spain. He didn't want tracking or any of that other expensive stuff and claims he never received the part.Interesting story. I guess tracking is the way to go for both parties.

Hello all,Good Heavens Man, ya sceered me for a bit. I had those Spinergys on it for a while and got quite alot of comments. ;D ;D
Terry, rest assured that I'll be keeping & coveting the 956... :-P Just snagged a set of Zipp 515 rims for it...and I still have my 4000 and my wife's 955.
Thanks!
Pics of the 957 please! :-)What he said. 957s and 5500s are rare birds.
I think I'm done buying Proflexes, but a 957 or 5500c could certainly make me do a 180 on that decision. Just interested in seeing pics of a nicely restored version.
Thanks!

Sorry, I used a poor choice of words when I said NOS and restored. I acquired a lightly used 957 frameset, and built it with non-original, but mostly period correct parts. I do have the Altek levers, and control tech parts, but they aren't on it right now. No Kooka or SRAM either. Here is what it looks like currently:
Just dusted off my old second hand 856 and of course the elastomers had turned to goo.(http://www.suspensionforkparts.net/eshop/images/uploads/proflex50.gif)
Looks like "rapiddescent.co.uk" is no more. Are there any other sources for the COR springs or some other suitable replacement?
I'm at 180lbs at the moment.

Sweet! That was a dandy pile of parts. Are all those shocks good?
Sweet! That was a dandy pile of parts. Are all those shocks good?
The loose smart shock is blown. It looks to me like it is a rear mount anyway since the mounts are smaller than the one mounted on the fork. The fork was what I really wanted, the rest is just gravy.

As far as elastomers, there is a company called Progressive suspension. The sell clear amber polyurethane springs. Sometimes they list on ebay too. Or Risse Racing makes airshock for them, but the Genesis model can cost you a couple of hundred dollars ea.
Anyway, good luck,
Terry

The brain seems to work. It turns on and can be switched between settings. The shock itself just has no compression dampening. I'm just not sure how to disassemble the shock. Also, if it is under pressure, would the shock need to be sent out after being reassembled to be recharged?
The recharge kit is 25 bucks on ebay and then you just need a bottle of nitrogen. My source used to be my shop since we used high pressure nitrogen to charge the accumulators for the resin and catalyst systems.

Thats very interesting. I didnt know such a thing was available. I have a compressed gas/air stockist locally. Have you got a link to the recharge kit on ebay? Is it a general kit or a Noleen specific one?

initially I though it sounded like a load of b*llox, but thought I'd ask on here just in case.
btw, at £100 BIN for the frame alone I'm not about to bid on this one :D
The 854 would be available at a relatively inexpensive price plus actual cost of shipping. The 855 would be available at an appropriate price plus actual cost of shipping.
Do you have a Price for these? in particular the 854?
Mootsguy is this the end of the line for you and proflex? Seems such a shame after all that hard work done on your lovely rides.

Ah good. Which of the newer versions are you looking for?

Well.... Aside from the elastomer friction shock assemblies that are entirelly foreign to that frame and fork and the upside down lower link and the nasty dent in the top tube that is minimized the the ad copy........ not much..... but then I am kinda picky that way.Agreed!
"U.S. Bidders Only" ::) oh well... looks like some useful bits in that lot too.
Greetings from Canada!
I am looking for a red "way big" 1996 Proflex 856, as original and as in good shape as possible, but will consider all. I have a US mailing address and can pay through paypal.
Hope someone can help me get back the only bike I ever raced!
Thanks!, Mike.
Im not sure but I think DugB on here had a way big for sale a short time ago. Have a look back through the posts or pm him just in case.
Chris
I actually thought they were heavier than 26lbs. I'm going to guess that the final price will be $1250.
You might be right! Aren't OZ frames much lighter than the x57s which I believe are ~2.7kg including rear shock?

Just saw this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220749013082 - I don't know how he managed to get his seatpost down beyond the stop, one little bump and it is going to trash the rear shock, if not already. ::)
OZ in USA. Haven't seen one for sale for ages.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/K2-ProFlex-OZ-Carbon-Fiber-Mt-Bike-Full-Suspension-/180634103576
Strangely I was expecting it to be lighter.
Thanks TerryThere were much more medium and large frames made. The small size and Waybig were made in much smaller quantities.
It is in quite good condition although some of the bits have been replaced at some time with cheaper bits.
Thankfully they are little cheap bits like rear mech, shifters etc this one has an fsa headset ?
I want to se it to someone who has the cash but also someone who genuinely wants it to
As a rule are proflex's larger? I ask because it's labelled as a small but seems a good size
I saw the rear shock top mount when I took it out for a clean so see what you mean
the good news is that the rear noleen works a treat and as it should, the front crosslinks are spot on and all the linkages are nice and tight with no sideways movement
I think It will be sold this weekend as i need to clear space for another project..the only other option is to hold onto it and wait for a large frame but I'm not so sure how often they come along?
Look! Another GDT shock. Don't see those much.

Your small 957 is in near mint condition. I bought the exact model for my wife. These are highly sought after by Proflex fanatics for thier spouses and kids. I paid about $500 for my wife's small 957. Not many were made, so they are very rare.
Again, just beautiful.

Anyone in the Seattle area interested in a OZm/OZx frame? (I don't think there was any difference in the frame - is that correct?)
it's been a garage potato for years now and my back is now officially cooked, so putting it back together isn't really an option.
I don't have the rear shock (but I understand that's a change out - I had a Helix on it for a while), the BB (xt, square spindle) feels OK
the frame didn't have a lot of miles on it (it was at the twilight of my riding), but it is a few years old (obviously)
I really don't know what it's worth, it's a cool frame, but just a frame and I hate to see garage potatoes
Size????
sorry for not leaving that piece of info (also, didn't want to glog the forum with pics...unless it's appropriate - I can certainly get pics to folks)

Shameless plug for Proflex 750 I am selling on ebay. It's been much loved but has to go for reasons of space - would rather it went to someone who appreciates it!

Visually the top tube length looks short compared to the swingarm. But maybe it is just an optical illusion because the swingarm is hanging so low.(http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2745/5717132487_90b0f3b414.jpg)

I can't "see" the 1" difference between my Medium and Large Carbon frame bikes...............or is there any other give away?
serial numbers (if in existence) seem to be the only definitve on these........

I know nothing about this bike. Just surfing CL and there it is.
not sure Terry, its split across the hole where the drop out bolts on, its very thin there. I might JB weld the dropout to the swingarm and take a chance!
I have a freebie Proflex swingarm available. Details here:

For sale Fox TALAS Float RL rear shock.
This shock is used but is in excellent near new condition. It was on my wife's bike and she hardly ever road it. It fits the EVO series K2 bikes, like 3000 4000 5000. It may fit other models as well. Eye to Eye is 210mm x 2 inch stoke. Includes to correct size adapters to mount it on your bike. The swing arm bracket requires a small notch cut to make room for the air valve. Very easily performed with a round file. Cost $400 new, Asking price is $160 USD for this rare item. Shipping is not included. Item is located in the USA.
Features:
TALAS = Travel Adjustable Linear Air Spring. Meaning you can adjust the travel of the shock in 3 different preset heights in 1/4" increments by turning a switch
R= Rebound adjustable with the red knob
L = Lockout with the blue lever. Lock the rear for those long smooth climbs or any smooth surfaces.
Float = Air spring adjustable by using a shock pump to match rider weight and style. Shock pump is not included, it takes a standard shock pump.

I'd like to get a set of Noleen Pipeline Chubby LTs for my 1998 K2 Animal. Are these forks a good choice? I know I can get better with today's technology, but I don't want to spend what decent shocks will cost. Those are the same as the RST Hi5 fork, with 5 inches of travel. All of the parts are the same. RST discontinued the model because they were having some failures of the stanchions. There were never any problems with the regular chubby.
I also like the look the these shocks and they came stock on the Animal.
Anyone have one for sale?
Thanks,
Ian

i use to work at Ultra sport, it was in Long Eaton, my home town. they moved to Castle Donnington down the road and all the Offroad parts were scrapped, boxes and boxes of frames, vectors, spares, a mountain of bushing kits.. i did try and get my hands on it all and failed.. this particular frame was the display model in Funsport cycles then i got my hands on it.. if anyone is interested in buying the bike or parts please contact me on here or preferably my Email address which you can find on my profile..
WANTED: a good close up pic of the "Pro-Active" sticker found on the swingarm of the 857 (and presumably many other models) and approximate dimensions of said sticker.
needed so I can get a reproduction one made up.
unless anyone knows of somewhere I can get one?
Your frame will be a small as they didnt make a way small. It has a double stack just like the other sizes. Noleenj6 make straight swap quality shocks for the '56 models as well as Risse. Both will out perform MDU by far.
Chris
Yes, thanks, that's what my orig post asked......if I should just get a few elastomers from Suspensionforkparts.com or look for an air can.
Hey, can you give a little info on the shock replacement on the 656 photo thats posted thanks, Tracy
Hello Group, Could you tell me if the Risse shock requires any retro fitting or modifications to the bike frame or the triangle (656) I know had to come up with my own set up the first time I replaced the rear suspention on my Attack. That is before I found the almighty "AAAAAAAHHHHHHH" Pro Flex Riders Group. lol Any info on this would be great. Thanks, Tracy
Wonder if anyone can use this with an adapter to retrofit. Upside down might work for some of the frames. Great price and shipping is good too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320732966199&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNASIF:US:1123

Hello!
i am looking for a replacement noleen rear shock for my 957/857.
i am also in need off the small fixture which connects to the upper fork which the noleen shock screws into.
- look at the exploded diagram for your fork or frame and list the part you are after and this question will then be clearer to us
an issue with the threading of the shock into this fixture caused a total failure of the noleen shock :(
i'm not really interested in investing the 200$ for a new risse shock - but any other reasonably replacements would be considered!
is there a way to make the nr4 style noleen shock (shown above in "racesrc's" post) fit/work with a 957/857? or will i need the exact noleen that was used in my frame prior?
- a) No it will not fit the x57 frame, b) you need one with a split collet taper and end bolt
please pm me!
thanks guys!
-a
Hey all,Are you sure they are rubber? I thought they were plastic.
I'm looking for a set of the black rubber buttons that later Crosslink's used to prevent the top linkage bolts from denting the frame's top tube. Anyone have a set they don't mind parting with?
Thanks!

Hi, new boy here with my first post.I see the kits on Ebay US.
I have a pair of Girvin Vector 2 forks, and I could do with both the RK0005 and RK0006 (is that too many 0's?) service kits. I have found plenty on ebay and a couple of online sellers, but I'm in the UK and people either don't respond to my e-mails or I get quoted silly shipping prices (try $104 for 2 qty RK0005 kits!).
Does anyone have either of the kits (especially the 5) for sale, or can you point me in the direction of a shop in the UK, or one in the US that would be happy to send a jiffy bag to the UK?
Many thanks.
Neil

Hey Spokes - What's wrong with no decals :)ha ha. Nothing at all! I was mearly saying that I like original decals. Call me old fashoned.. My large will also be of the stealth look, unless I can get some 5500 decals made up.
I pulled my 855 out this Spring and noticed my swingarm is cracked at the pivots on both sides! :( I read somewhere they can be welded up, but I would rather replace it. So, next obvious question, anyone have a swingarm they would be wiling to sell? I would also be interested in another medium frame 855 and higher, cosmetics don't matter as long as it is not tweaked or dented. If it had a real shock attached I would be very interested - I have a set of replacement front and back elastomer boingers I bought when still available 3 or so years ago, and have been hoarding them in a cool dark spot ever since, but I am not looking forward to installing them. I patrol ebay regularly but have not seen anything lately. I live in Omaha, NE, USA. Thanks!Pictures?
It's pretty simple, on the exact top of each pivot there is a crack running from side to side. I have not taken the swingarm off to see how deep they are, but I don't think they go all the way through. I am not sure what a picture can add to that but I can get one if it would be of any help. Hey all,
Just wanted to let you know that I'm selling and will be selling some choice vintage MTB and Proflex bits over the next few days on eBay...not divesting myself, just letting go of a few things I don't need or can't use...some frames, some parts...just FYI.

Hello, Does anyone know where I can find some new swing arm bushings for my 5500 carbon.
Ok, so I gambled and bought a K2 attack frame rebuild kit. Godd news and medium news: It comes with the correct quad rings for your 4500, 5500 or OZ and the not as great part : the pivot bushings are the right diameter and thickness, but they are too long (or wide I guess), so you will need to remove some material from the sides of all four bushings to make the pivot hardware snug down on the swing arm and not on the too long bushings (learned by trial and error).

i have a red 856 that needs a derailluer hanger can anyone help me find one
Hi All,
Greetings from potatoland.
An interesting thing happened last week at the Tour de Fat (a fine family time) here in Boise ID while I was riding the screaming yellow 5000.
Bumped into a young lad who said there was interest/demand in Proflex bikes. He was full of Fat Tire beer and enthusiastic - so was I. Searched and here I am with questions.
Have a 98 Proflex 5000 - carbon forks and swing arm in a Way Big size. All stock XT and XTR with some new old stock parts excepting the tubes and tires. It's in good/very good condition. I have had other bikes and this one has not been ridden hard.
Is there a market/ demand and if so what might be an appropriate price? Nobody here knows a thing about this bike. What is the preferred venue for a sale? Craigslist?
I'm not a collector/gear head and thought it might be good to get it in the hands of someone who might appreciate it before I break something.
Can provide pics - is there a way to upload?
Thanks!
JT

Hi all, I have a Red Proflex 857, recently tuned at my LBS (Service Course Velo in Medford, Oregon) that I'm looking to sell. What's the best way? Full bike, frame and fork, some other configuration? I've had it since 98 and replaced/upgraded parts as needed throughout the years, e.g. it has a Risse Racing rear shock that replaced the Noleen when it exploded on me. Let me know if more info is needed.Post pictures on this page so we can look over condition and help you price it. Someone here may want it.
Thanks,

This has been on ebay twice now, thought that someone else might have added the link. That is one of those Chinese knockoffs that a Spanish company marketed. You can buy the frames on Ebay all day long.

I've got a proflex (855 I think) which I'm looking to sell but I've no idea what it's worth and I don't know anything about bikes.
hmmm it has GT stickers on it . How err pointless and wrong??
Chris
Credit where it's due there is an apology for the stickers !

Anyone who is a Proflex lover, please save this bike from a person who thinks a WalMart special is better than buying the Proflex Beast above! Make me an offer, I'd rather see a person who can appreciate this bike get it. Instead of a dumb@$s who doesn't know quality when it hits them in the face. :'(
I have a large Proflex 957 frame for sale. I've not ridden it since 2007, and it deserves a better home than my basement.
I am the original owner. There are two dents in the top tube, one one each side, where the fork hit it, before I added a rubber bumper. The bike had another 9 years of riding after that.
It has a carbon fiber swing arm. When I stopped riding it, everything was in great shape, except for the fork. The fork is dead. You can't use it. One of the lugs has receded into the carbon fiber leg.
I'll be setting up an ebay entry soon, but wanted to give y'all a heads up in recognition of the help I've gotten over the years.
Hi Guys....
I'm enjoying the 856 I rebuilt and I've been using it as often as I can.
I've found that having fixed / replaced most of the bits I needed to get it just right it's riding really well.....but I'm having fun with the rear shock.
Has anyone got an ODS unit to sell ?
With or without elastomers or springs....alternatively another more modern shock option at reasonable money ?
Top end new Risse shock is just a little bit outside of my budget.....
I kick myself each time I see the Stratos shock in the previous post above....thinking about it that would have been perfect !
I'm in the UK, so I need to keep the shipping cost in mind.....anyone have anything to replace the non damped standard set up i have right now ?
Would consider an old ODS unit for rebuild....
Even a Fox or similar with the adapter bushes would be cool..
Thanks guys !

Hi CRXSTASY, Not interested myself, but I'm not familar with where you live, so maybe let people know which country you're in and maybe an indication of Postage costs?
Col.
Hello folks,
After six years off the bike, following an awful knee injury, I think I might be able to ride a little again. The trouble is all of the pro Flex equipment I have had in the past has been sold! A used to have an 856, 857 and a beast. I sold them all when I thought I could never ride again.
I'm looking for a similar sort of bike again, 856 or 857 type frame - I don't really mind what model number. Coil is preferable over elastomer, but I love to tinker, so it doesn't matter so much.
I'm in Kent in the UK, oooh... Size, I used to have large, I'm 5’11“
What's the market like for proflexes these days? I regret selling my stuff so much, but here's hoping someone has something suitable?
I'm thinking about selling my Brand New, Never Used, 856 World Cup and I need some help.
..........................................
When I first posted a 'feeler', the thought was I could expect $500 for this............Not that I'm looking to make a fortune on this, but I thought that seemed awefully low. Seems I could part it out and almost make that. I figured, how many brand new Proflex bikes are out there?????
What do you think would be a fair asking price locally here in Massachusetts, USA on CL or a fair starting bid on Fleabay?
The pics can be viewed on my Pinkbike page:
http://antmav.pinkbike.com/album/Proflex/ (http://antmav.pinkbike.com/album/Proflex/)
The two 854's aren't for sale, I still ride those two bikes weekly.
Thanks for the assistance.
Hi guys. I'm not sure if this has been asked before but has anyone from the U.K. bought a bike from the U.S. and had it brought over? Only I have seen some beautiful examples of Proflex bikes for sale on the U.S. Craigslist and was wondering if it was worth taking a risk on one. Would there be import duty to pay etcI've done it for forks and spares.
Cheers
Thanks Col. I'll bear all that in mind.Oh yes and I should mention that the total price the VAT etc is worked out on is the purchase price Plus postage! as this is classed as a service you have bought outside of the EU.
You know, a scoop like that probably deserves a bit more of an explanation and back story to satisfy our envious curiosity!!! 8)
I'm Selling my pro flex/K2 OX-M on ebay. Its in great shape and comes with a Hammerhead rear disc kit. Here it is:

Hmmm . . So what is the difference between retro and vintage? In my world of humour, 'retro' is cool like a hot rod, 'vintage' is like a Model T with the original crank... ;)

Does the Disco use the same swing arm as the K2 Animal? It Looks the same but I'm sure the shock mounted in a different position.
Chris
I have a couple of frames I'm thinking about selling. I live in the Phoenix, AZ area. One is a Proflex 4000 and the other is an 856. I would like to keep the ODS from the 856. Any ideas what I should ask? I can't figure out how to load or attach pictures yet. I believe they are both medium size (18"). The 856 is red and the 4000 has a bad homeade paint job and is black. You might struggle to sell the 856 without any shock on it at all, as it's such a specific shock fitting, I think the frame and shock would sell seperately for less than their combined worth.
Did the OZ-M from Brycer1968 fall through? I saw the frame back up for sale on EBAY.

...yep, and it was me... something family related popped up and it had to be taken care of first. I told him if it's still for sale once things calm down, then I will be grabbing it up...
Its a 16" the top shock mount is the same as my 855 tucked up in the frame
Re size; I have the original receipt which states 16 inch.
The actual frame measures from the centre of the BB vertically to the top of the top tube just above the rear sus mount = 16 inches.
Or centre of BB to top of seat post = 18 & half inches.
Don't want to start a frame measurement war though.
It's not my bike, just selling it as part of a late friend's estate. He was about 5 foot 7 (1 metre 70 cm) so would say definitely a small.
Hi Fitz,
I am looking for a Way Big frame, would you mind meassuring the center-crank to top-tube?
That way we can find out its size.
Thanks a lot, kind regards,
Friso

FYI, that's a Small, not a Medium (can tell by the upper shock mount frame shape)
Actually it's a 4000RS I believe?
Nice bike and if it was in the UK, I'd be V. intrested for the missus, (The 900 that I have just sounds soooooo Lo-End! <GRIN>)
Good Luck !

I might, but with you needing one this could be a good time to do the sealed bearing conversion. I have all the parts for the conversion, including a good, reamed swingarm, but I think I need a new axle to be made...not realizing how important a few thousandths can be for something like that I let the machinist use something he already had on hand that was just a hair too small...but the hair was enough.Dang Doug. Is that an Evo carbon swingarm that would fit an Oz?
So, if you're interested, here's what I have:
- carbon rear swingarm reamed for the sealed bearings
- the set of 4 sealed bearings
- the undersized axle, just for laughs (it is only a hair too small, though)
- the proper machined washers for retaining the bearings
- I think some Ti bolts for the ends
I'd let it all go for a reasonable price eventhough with the machining it probably cost me close to $170 to have done.
Alternately, I may also have a stock pivot kit. :-)
Let me know...
- Doug :-)
Yes, it's the one I had on my old 4000...interested? :-)
Does anyone have a source for the saddle washers on the front shock for the Girvin fork?Do you need the thick or thin ones? Fork ones are thinner than the rear shock ones. I have some of both.
Shame it's a medium. I'm always looking for a mint large.
Hi All,
Anyone seen this 1997 catalogue before? I don't recall it being in our "archive"..........

Postage is a bit steep to the UK, or else I'd consider getting it.
Someone in the US able to buy it and then scan it for all of us to benefit from? <SMILE>

Please let me know whether you have anything and we can take it from there.
Many thanks
Ziggy
Might want to state your location as shipping could be expensive. I have a carbon frame in the USA.
