Thanks Man!

Will I be able to find a Noleen J6 or a Riesse for the 656? Are they still manufacturing new one's or would I have to scan Craigslit or Fleabay? Would the shock have to be retro fit or will it just work with the current rear end? I know it's a ton of questions, but I've always just replaced the MDU's when needed, never swapped out the rubber for air.

Your frame will be a small as they didnt make a way small. It has a double stack just like the other sizes. Noleenj6 make straight swap quality shocks for the '56 models as well as Risse. Both will out perform MDU by far.

Thanks for the link. I just checked the Noleen site and there wasn't a rear shock listed that would fit a 656. Any other options you can think of?

Hmmm...I don't even know if Risse would have something for that rear. What about going with new elastomers from Suspension Fork Parts? Would probably run $100 total for the front and rear. Or, you could always try to find a replacement material or spring yourself. There are cheap springs on eBay all the time, and all you really need are your measurements (e.g. ID, OD, free length) and the spring rate (maybe 400 lbs for that rear?).

Just my $0.02...

Yes, thanks, that's what my orig post asked......if I should just get a few elastomers from Suspensionforkparts.com or look for an air can.

i think you only have room for a new set of elastomers.There just isnt room there for any kind of shock.

Just picked up a 954 to keep my Reptile company. I'm in need of the plastic spacers that go between the 2 elastomers both front & rear. I believe these are pretty much the same for all models & years of Proflex. Let me know if this is incorrect. If any of you who have upgraded to "real' shocks still have your spacers laying around I would really appreciate you sending them my way!

Ah well I had one of them right. Risse do make a shock for it. And it does use two elastomers. Id probably stick with elastomers on that model.

Hi there. Im new to owning a Girvin Proflex elite crosslionk fork and I'm looking for some spare aluminuim fork legs for a snow bike project where I'll be pairing this fork with a Surly Large Marge rim and 3.8" tire. The fork modifications will only require the portion of the fork legs below the pivots. The upper pivot part fo the fork legs can be damaged/worn or not even there.

I am assuming that all the aluminum Girvin fork leg extrusions are the same diameter, profile and thickness over the years and models. I'm also assuming that the legs are straight gauge and not butted like bike frame tubing. . . . Maybe someone here can weigh in on these questions as well

Please let me know if you have spare Girvin legs in your parts inventory that might work for this. I can paypal you the shipping cost plus what ever you think they are worth.
