Searching swingarme for Proflex 856 or other Ideas
«

Hi,
I have a K2 MTB (Proflex 856). I Have a flaw in the swingarm. I join some picture to the request. Has somebody a swingarm who's compatible? Or any other ideas. I'm thinking about making this part by myself with steal! ;-)
Is there any other swingarm on the market which I can use?
Thx

Where are you located? Shipping can be costly so if one is in the same country that will help.

Looks like the strut is cracked. Is this the problem you have or is there a problem with the swingarm also? At least the strut is lighter so shipping will be less.

I would think that could be welded very easily. There is no sideways movement at this point so the repair should be fine. I would also check the bushes are ok at that joint as that's an unusual place for a crack. Is the bush worn and has the bolt been over tightened causing the strut to bend and crack?

Hey,
as you can see on the pictures the part is entirely broken. We already try to weld it but it doesn't hold. The aluminum is to sensitive. What do you mean with "bushes". I can't find a logic translate on the internet. At now I weld a part with steal. It work's but it isnt' the last solution?
Jinder? Have you find a swing arm.
Thx for the help ;-)

Bush= the nylon bearing which the brocken part of strut pivots on the swing arm.
Also check swingarm main pivot bearings for side play or movement.
Good luck

I have an extra strut that has the cone shaped hole for the shock. I am in the USA. Do want me to check on shipping?

oooh! an oppurtunity for me to try my best German out!
wenn Chris "busch" sagt, meint er nicht einen Baum! Er meint das Rohr Lager, dass der Bolzen durch geht. Vielleicht war das zu viel angezogen?
Stück Nummer 1 in diesem Diagramm:
http://idriders.com/proflex/resources/97_spc657_strut.pdf
Does anyone else know if that part of the strut actually is aluminium? I'm inclined to think it's steel..........?
Anyone else know for sure?
ist, dass ein Teil der Strebe Aluminium? Ich bin geneigt, es denken Stahl ..........?
If it's aluminium then there's some very knowledgeable aly welding people on here who might be able to offer informative advice.
und wenn es Aluminium ist dann gibt es einige sehr kluge Leute hier, wie man Aluminium schweißen wissen

I'm sure it's aluminium. Look at the face of the break. The way it's broken like a biscuit, all brittle. I think steel shears more cleanly and I'm just sure it's aluminium. I recon it would Tig weld no problem.
Of cause I could be totally wrong lol.

Thats very kind of you guys. Useful help everywhere.
The pDf File of Colin is very useful to understand us eachothers.
I attached the picture from the file to this Post.
Sorry that i don't answer earlier but iHave a lot of work and each post need a lot of time for me ;-)
The part which I need "the strut( nr 5 on the picture)" is definitely aluminum.
Maybe the. We already try to tig weld that but whiteout success! The guy who weld says that kind of aluminum is difficult/impossible for having big stability.
Maybe iHave to ask someone else!
I can't recognize side play movement.
Willi_B can you check teh chipping cost and i will decide after that what the better solution is. I will try to weld this again with another person first. What do you want for the Part? (Can write this in a private message if you want)
Chris Thx for link on Ebay German. That exactly what i need.

Two more question.
Is the sitze of the swingarm the same for all the bike size. The PDF-File from collin suggest that yes.
Can i Use the swingarm from the Proflex 657 for the Proflex 856? Are the other swingarms that are compatible?
I just see Both question, answer is "Yes" isn't it!
I collect the information from the tech archive on this forum. Very nice Forum!
