nFo on Proflex 954 parts please?
« on: March 09, 2011, 04:53:49 pm »

Greetings all

I have a Proflex 954 that is in need of parts! Mainly one part it's the small aluminum press in that the rear swing arm hinges on. The one with out threads but I will take either as I can always drill out one that has threads. I have contacted K2 they don't have it and have searched many other forums with no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction? PLEASE!!!!! Thanks in advance for any help.

P.S. Any information on any other parts would be appreciated as well. You never know when you may need something.

Never heard of anyone wearing that part out. You might have to have it made.

It didn't wear out it shattered looks to have been an imperfection that allowed it to eventually fail. I have been looking into have it machined the best price i can get is $50 and even at that he said he didn't want to do it.

Central Florida I'm on the edge of Saint Cloud. I have already checked with the local shops. No one does anything this small. I'm considering buying a lathe and doing it myself. Could just cut and grind a stack of washers but I'm a perfectionist lol.

I'm a (very) amateur machinist here and you would be amazed at what you can make with a small 12" x 5" lathe.  You can score one of the Harbor Freight ones for about 500 bucks that actually has a large amount of aftermarket accessories.  Another option for your part is to contact your local amateur machinists.  Start searching and surfing forums for them and you might just find what you need for free.  They love a challenge.  Once it is polished your only other challenge is to get it hard anodized but again, there are homies doing that too.

Sorry for the delay photos as requested!

The measurements are not precise and are were done with a tape measure. If you will do it for me I will beg, borrow or steel a Dial Caliper to get the precise dimensions. "lol"

Richard, that looks simple enough.
I could turn it out for you, but I would request all the parts including the bolt to reverse engineer. I would suggest the part be made of 7075 or better yet 7068 alum. McMasterCarr has 1" diameter rods 12" long that would certainly do the job for about $25. My cost would be $80 for 1 hour of labor. If need be I could bring in that material for you.
