add your super light weight spec k2 and Proflex here, listing the components! (only for super nerdy bike builders). hopefully this will be useful so that folks who have acquired frames etc know which components work and how much they weigh. I used a set of electronic scales to measure everything.

Razorback RS Singlespeed - 22.38 lbs
I recently had the razorback powder coated blue with a blue glitter finish - I know, it is very pimpy but it's my singlespeed bike that I totally love. I nearly bought some SiD world cup forks, which would have reduced the weight to 21.5 lbs, but decided to spend the money on my Santa Cruz Bullit instead.

nice build. I am aiming for sub 24 with my Proflex 2000.

I need to wear out and upgrade my drivetrain though, as the stx-rc stuff is super heavy and get some real pedals as well.

Noleen mega air would bright your weight down too, they are about 1365g 80-100mm travel, and cheap if you could score one.

noleen mega airs are super rare here in Scotland & UK because the UK distributor didn't sell many K2 bikes. I'll keep a lookout on ebay!

The reason that I used my 12 year old XP-X on the London to Paris ride last weekend rather than buying a Tourer was that it weighs less than most bikes I would have bought!
I was really pleased to get the weight coming in at 12Kg (26.4lb)
That's pretty stock, but with Spinergy Rev Roks wheels; Continental Ultra 1.125" Tyres; Computer; Bottle cage; SPD's; Ti bar ends; Rear Rack; LED light; and Ti Coil Springs.

The only down side was the 10.5Kg of luggage that I hauled with it!

Anyway, it all went very well, 260 miles in 3 days:
Day 1 - 77 miles @15.5mph
Day 2 - 83 miles @14.5mph
Day 3 - 100 miles @13mph

and I comfortably kept up with (and even beat) my mates on their Tourers!

Well Pleased with the old PRO~FLEX !!

I'm pretty sure that a x56 frame with off-road tyres could be brought down to sub 9.5kg (20lbs ish) with modern components. The main advances are with wheel technology and carbon bits.

I would love to see some pics and breakdown of parts for those 22 lbs x56 and x57s.

I have noticed a lot of bargain bin parts these days to bring down weight "cheaply" (well cheap for weight weeniesm)

USE alien carbon seatposts go for cheap on ebay these days (got mine for $40), especially the the shorter length ones, perfect for most of our pro-flexes. 230mm weighs about 130 grams, 200 weighs 105grams.

Titec pluto stems are 125g, and are on ebay new for $15-25.

I am personally hoping to score a pair of Sun Ringle Black Flag wheelset. They are sub 1300g (non disc) and were on sale at one point for $400. The rims themselves are 350g, and the set uses 24 and 28 spokes for front and back rims respectively.

As for good weight for a modern xc tyre. Depends on $$ and application?

If going for all out weight weenieism Maxxis makes the maxxlite 285, which is 285g... but they are apparently meant for race day only as they wear out quickly. Oh they are also super narrow and don't offer that much traction.

I think the ultimate tire is the Schawbe rocket ron 2.1, at 410grams, it has great traction and light, and won't wear out as fast.

The above two tires are rather expensive. I use the IRC mibro 2.1 weighing in at 520g, the 1.95 versions are 450g.. They are like all mountain "lite" tires which I need for the trails around here and were <$20 a pop.

I have my eye on some 1.8 foldable fire xc pro's (the 120 tpi version) which I think are high 400's, they can be picked up at reasonable cost and get good reviews, any input on them - good or bad ?

Just about everyone love the panaracer fire xc pros. Like you said though, just gotta get the much lighter Japanese made 120tpi versions.
