Sorting through my box of spares and found 1  NOS RK003-Attack style frame bearing/seal kit. I have no use for this so it is for sale. Sending to wherever needed should not be a problem. How about $15 USD plus postage. Or we can even work someting out in trade as I have a classic mini and good magazines are hard to get in the states.

7" (175mm) headtube and the shock lower shaft looks longer than a standard one.

Correct, only those listed in the description.

Mike Hammer and Callum {RDS} (on this forum) used to do a "x56HH" Hammerhead disk adaptor for the 856 style bikes but they stopped doing them when demand dropped off. So, No there is no adaptor currently commercially available.

I recently tried out a x56HH for Mike and fed back my thoughts on it, including a design tweak to reduce the problem of the dropout buttresses causing the adaptor to not be parallel to the disk.
Maybe he'll do a production run sometime in the future if there's enough demand........?

Ball Bearing Conversion Shaft/Spacer Sets
« Reply #475 on: February 10, 2009, 06:59:10 pm »
Hello all,

While farting around on eBay one day I came across an auction for machine shop services. I decided to contact the guy about the cost to make the ball bearing pivot shaft & spacer sets, and he just got back to me. I'm sure the folks who originally did this were knowledgeable with the lathe...unfortunately, my spare time for the next few months will be spent redoing a kitchen and not fabricating goodies for my ride.

So the machinist got back to me today with his pricing. For one set he's asking USD 49, but if I find 9 other people who are interested he'll knock it down to USD 39. The set is the pivot shaft (for the K2 4000/4500/5000/5500), threaded on both sides in M8x1.25, plus the 4 2mm spacers.

Anyone else interested (or think they can crank me out a set for less)?

Count me in for a set. Seems good even at $49. No big rush as all I have at the moment is the frame.

Don't forget that the same pivot kit works for the x57 series too. I have the same set in my 957 as well as my Oz.

How are you going to deal with reaming the swingarm to fit the bearings? Are you asking for the parts to be made from 7075 alum? How are you going to verify this?

Hi Terry,

I didn't know that the pivots were the same for the X57. As for the material, I think we had discussed 6061 instead of 7075. Not sure where I got that in my head. The material specs for 7075 make it seem about twice as strong as 6061, so I'll get back to the machinist.

How would you propose I verify that the material is truly 7075 after I receive the parts? I have no idea how to do that :-/

Thanks!

Oops, forgot to talk about the bearings and reaming. The assumption is that anyone wishing to have the upgrade would have to:

- buy the bearings on their own, and...
- take their swingarm to a local machine shop to have it reamed for the bearings

I didn't want to get into sending swingarms to this guy, and happen to have a local machine shop that can easily do the work. But I was too lazy to print out all the pivot/spacer specs and take them to my shop, as this online guy seemed easier.

I had thought of downloading the eMachineshop.com software and trying to replicate the design, which I could them upload for pricing...but I'm swamped at work right now. Terry, based on the info at eMachineshop.com, could the drawing you already created be uploaded? I'm clueless when it comes to CAD file formats. :-/
