been sitting boxed up in my garage for many a moon and want to get them to a good home. i'm looking to get $385 USD plus shipping - if no takers, they may go back in the box for the next millenium. wanted to give you guys the option before they go thru the Ebay system.

oh, syncros headset and front derailler included - as i recall they worked fine but for a new rider they probably should be swapped out. since the shocks have been sitting for quite some time -
i haven't a clue.

knew i forgot something -

large -

only significant difference 'tween a medium and a large should be the top tube and wheelbase - 25 mm longer in a large. the standover is the same.

by running a one inch shorter stem say a 105 or even a 90 from a 130, one gets the advantage of the more stable longer platform for XC riding and quickens the steering. that's what i've done on mine.

i don't think the XC bike production industry will be building more of these types of bikes for years to come - way too expensive. with a few simple mods that many of us have made, suspension is improved from good to great and where else can you get this kind of "wow" factor -
the stares alone are worth it (even if it's just me staring at it).

yes - i'm south orange county. all the 4500's, 5500's, Oz x's and m's were all the same frames just out of two different runs that the company had done. omnium made the main triangles and easton supplied the cf for the swingarms.

paul, 'tsk! tsk!" you should have taken me up on the 'free' offer for the bike to use as you see fit.

Pretty sure that the 4500/5500 had less travel than the Oz bikes... or rather, the K2 smart shock had less travel than the Noleen (NR5?) equipped bikes... so find out which shock you are getting with the frame. I think the difference was 4,7 verses 5,3 inches.... but I am sure someone will come back with the xact figures.

Otherwise... the frames are pretty similar... although some had funky BB spacing and required some spacers and shims odd shims to set the "Q" (chainring spacing ?) . Hence why the first run of bikes came with the rather expensive (custom made for OEM!?) for Pro~Flex Race Face taper-lock bottom brackets... they were spoecial in that the axles were not the standard lenght for the regular taper-lock BB's.
I think the later bike frames had this sorted and off the shelf BB's are available for them. But for an early frame, be careful and be prepared for some jiggling, BB swapping and shim making/machining to get the spacing perfect.

NO doubt someone will dutifully reply that I am the only one to ever have had this problem.... but during an intense period of investigation back in '99 (or was it 2000) this information slowly filtered to the surface from inside sources at both Pro~Flex / K2 and Race Face.

Having said that..... awesome frames.... good prices.. a few dollars more than E discount were selling them for with the latest shocks 3 years ago... but still well worth the money.

Budget for a new shock also...

OP your offer WAS seriuosly considered at the time but it would have been pretty expensive exercise to have it hanging over the fireplace....I would have died if i put a ding in the thing.....

they're pretty much ding proof kiwi - you'd have to try to do some serious damage to leave a lasting mark.

i sold the fork and the frame went to a UK buyer whose been a bit flakey and my sale was for US buyers only. if i don't get much more response from him, i'll maybe keep the frame, maybe sell it again - not sure.

a guy came into one of my retail banking locations and wanted to deposit a cashiers check for $12000. he'd sold his motorcyle on ebay to a UK buyer for $4000 and the UK buyer sent what appeared to be a US cashiers check for $12,000. He received a followup note explaining that they made a transfer error and asked that the seller send $8000 back, along with the motorcycle.

One of my PB's (premier banker) noted a minor discrepency on the CC and did some followup work. the CC was bogus - if it had gone thru, the guy would have shipped his bike to the UK along with $8000 of his own funds and deposited a $12000 fake CC that would have debit hit his account as well at a later date. he would have lost his motorcycle, shipping, $8,000 and made a $12,000 deposit that would have been reversed.

be careful out there

yes......thats even a face to face scam here..you are selling your car and some guy turns up witha Bank Cheque...maybe your equivalent of a cahiers cheque..he drives your car away..ussually to sell again that very same weekend...you deposit your cheque on monday only to find it is a worthless forgery....moral of the story.....the buyer gets nothing until you have got the cash.......

This is a very popular scam in the UK also. There are mostly Nigerian guys behind it - walk away every time!

It's crime / drug related money they are trying to launder and also make a quick buck on the side.
