mega-air part number ?
«

Picked up the mega-air from ediscount, changed it to 100mm and took it for a ride this weekend. nice stiff and plush fork. i lost about half of the pressure on the air piston side (non-damper) so i have a leak somewhere. does anyone know the part number for a rebuild kit? does it include bushings (nice to have a spare set)? i took it apart again and relubed and checked everything and it looks fine so hopefully i've rectified the problem already but a kit would be nice to have on hand. thanks.

since you have taken it apart..i'd make sure it's all snugged up again, especially the stanchion caps and the bottom hex bolts, first.
let us know if that approach does not work.
that's what happened to mine.
i doubt you need a rebuild unless you mistakenly did something wrong.

i took it all apart again and cleaned and relubed everything. i even added a second o-ring to the air piston. it has a second groove but no o-ring in it and i had one that fit, so i put it in. it still leaked out overnight. i think i need to water dip it and find some bubbles or something. all the o-rings look fine(nice and round and supple-no nicks). hopefully find the problem tonight.

Try the schraeder valve. Add some teflon tape and CAREFULLY snug down.

If it leaks out over night you have a "big" leak. I know this is a lot of effort, try putting the VTO back in and get it back to 80mm and see if it leaks.
I'd do this after you filled it and did a water test, though.
I'll get the part number you want, too..later today, it's in the garage

when you say check the schraeder valve, do you mean the valve stem inside the valve or the actual valve where it is threaded into the stanchion cap? i've had the valve stems out and lubricated them and also the stanchion caps with the o-ring that seals the top of the stanchions but not the actual main parts of the schraeder valves themselves where they go into the plastic cap. do they unscrew from the caps? thanks again.

part # K007022 Mega Air fork seal kit
for me, the shraeder valve threaded into the top cap.
If my memory serves me, I remember having a slight problem with the air spring side (right side when on the bike). I had a time getting it (top part of stanchion) out and back in for some reason. Maybe you have rolled an o-ring or three up there.
Howie if he is still around knows some and Harv (hi Harv) knows a bunch, too.
Like Harv says it's a pretty simple and tough, just if you are all thumbs you can easily mess up those plastic parts, i have one in mine that i've buggered.

took the schraeders out and wrapped them in teflon tape and reinstalled them no air seems to be leaking from the valves (filled the topcaps with water and looked for bubbles) themselves but it is still down this morning again. the search continues. i have numerous air forks (marz. Z3, Xfly100, duke SL, Sid,) and shocks(sid, numerous cane creeks) and have never had so much trouble finding the problem. I will persevere though. i enjoyed the first ride on the fork a great deal, good confidence builder.
