Freaky results but can't continue.
« on: April 04, 2004, 04:11:39 am »
Well just competed in my 3rd ever XC race, and the results are slightly freaky,1st race I came 28th, 2nd race 14th, 3rd race 7th,unfortunatly it can't continue, don't know of a 3 1/2th position [smiley=laughing.gif],at least I'm getting there racing the same crowd with entries of around 45 to 60 riders, odd, best result on the longest track I've competed on in the worst conditions, track was sticky and slippery, felt like riding with your brakes on,even down hill [smiley=upset.gif],great day though,my son again showed me the way finishing 4th.

look no one behind me,8th finished 2mins 10 sec behind me. [smiley=nod.gif] Simon

Just found this pic of me from the race on the organiser's web site (they upload some galleries from each race).

remember this section of track, bloody steep, you can see how sticky the conditions were by the mud on the down tube, took ages to clean off.

Looks like a fast track, and you look like a natural for XC racing!  Congrats on the fahter/son results.  Next race you might spray some PAM or  other no stick cookware spray coating onto the frame-better yet brake with tradition and use a front fender and the coating-SKS makes a nice unit that doesn't require a starnut and can be removed in seconds to save you a 100 grams on a dry track (if you're counting them)

Thanks scott,we're having a great time, only one race left in this spring series :( but a break will do us good, will give me time to sell Sam's Orange sub3 frame and build him up the Oz frame, the cash will help him with a lighter wheelset and disc's set,
though I come from an MX background I just don't like the look of  front/rear fenders (mudguards),I know I know I shouldn't let looks overcome function but well I haven't really got an arguement other than looks :-[,I'll look into some non stick spray though [smiley=beer.gif]
Simon
Ps. I think the track would of been very fast had it not been for the conditions, don't care though still a great day [smiley=nod.gif]

No but the pic's are in a similar area, the climb pic is after the other pic but there was a fair bit more of single track to contend with before that climb, the first pic was taken by my wife, the other was found on the race organisers website, they often upload random race pic's, just lucky I was one of them.
