Mega Air Fork Leakage

After reading the positive comments here and on MTBR about this fork, I bought one from ediscountbike to replace my Psylo. I loved the drop in weight, and once installed, there was no slop in the bushings at all (unlike the Psylo). However, the left leg won't hold air - when pumped up, you can hear and feel air escaping from the schrader valve seat on top of the stanchion. I have a replacement fork inbound from ediscountbike (great service by the way), but I'm wondering how prevalent this problem is. Seeing the plastic threads on the valve seat doesn't give me too much hope that the air chamber will stay air tight. Any home mods others than teflon tape to keep everything ship shape? Thanks.

i will tell you it is a very good, light stiff air/air fork for XC/trail use..
one major caveat is that a lot of it is plastic, even threaded areas. it does not bode well for repeated maintenance and cross threading will kill the fork and also stripping other plastic parts...if you are careful though and not all thumbs...it's a good low maintenance fork...and the price is right!! as far as the leak(s) sometimes it's not the shraeder valve not seated, but rather the plastic top cap that is loose. other times an o~ring is not seated properly during assembly.
if the replacement has problems....post it here first I think we can help you with it.

BTW did your fork have the VTO option or was it just an 80mm fork?

Thanks. I'm assuming it's a VTO as it's a 2001, but since I like short travel forks on my XC bikes, I'll keep it at 80.
