air shocks for 4500c
« on: February 24, 2004, 04:48:56 am »
I want to upgrade the heavy Noleens on the rear and smartshock on the front (xlink).

Are there any off the shelf lightweight and reliable airshocks that will fit?

I haven't had upgradeitus in a while but the Noleens are getting long in the tooth (no leaks yet though) and I'd like to turn my 4500 into a featherlight machine since I do more road cruises now that I'm old.

Very happy with my Risse Astro5 air shock on the rear of my 4500,excellent shock reasonably light (you can see it in my gallery,Simon)straight bolt on fit,not sure on the x link  (don't use one) but I believe many have used the Risse genesis with success, check out the risse website from the links page.Simon.

www.Risseracing.com

genesis for the front and astro-5 for the rear. they are two air shocks that are made to fit for that frame.

you could get a whole new fork, like the closeout Mega~Air 80's from ediscount.com (very light air fork)

you would be wise to get semi-slick and narrow tires, too. that will make much more difference than the shocks for travelling on the road.

or just get a road bike, like i did.

I think you should get a road bike, and then give me your carbon masterpiece of a mtb so that then I could have two of them.

seriously, If you want a risse genesis for your xlink, i happen to have  a new one (never used) that I was going to put on my carbon xlink, but then I sold the xlink as I went with a fox talas fork. a bit heavier but great for my purpose.

let me know if you are interested, willing to deal.
