i think it's good all the way around. riding a bike, any bike is an investment in one's sanity

still wanna know how many Pro~Flex/k2 carbon frames were made and if there were only two runs.

carbon i aam a real xc kinda guy i often ride on the road to a nice technical (as in xc)ride about 20 ks away...I would like something more plush than the 756,but would i find the 5500c too soggy and wot about weight I would most likely swap as many parts as possible

Don't worry about the weight my 4500 frame set is lighter than my 856

,I'm down to 25lbs now even with hyd disc's & the al s/arm,so I could probably knock off another 1/2lb-1lb ,you won't find things soggy once you've set the suspension,there a great xc ride,Simon [smiley=nod.gif]

Had my Oz on a calibrated l.b.s. scale-22.30 w/o my pedals, fender, SKS airgun, or mud. For some reason manufacturers claimed weights do not include pedals. Took my time piecing the odd used bits from ebay and MTBR. All were purchased with an eye towards weight/cost to get this light. I have to also thank the "Lose some weight" board at MTBR for many of the suggested parts. An Astro with its lockout would make your 20 km to the trailhead much easier.

hey Kiwi/Scott - that sounds awfully light. my oZ weighs in at just under 25lbs - and all my gear is light [ie: lots of carbon and ti] bar the fork which is kinda heavy.

oh - and my old bike was a 957 - the oZ is every bit as good for xc as that - and it was nice

Have to agree,mine's in at 25lbs all in with SL sid fork,easton carbon SL bars,and post,light weight set of wheels,and a host of L/W components including many Ti bolts,cannot see where else I can lose much weight,unless I went back to V's may then lose 1/4 to 1/2 Lbs.Simon

Bullocks! You have to cut and paste the entire addy to bring it up. It's a great steering fork, similar to a Crosslink but very light and free of any J path type movement making it feel like a tele. The links/pivots are arranged so the wheel follows a different path throughout its travel.
