Proflex 957 color options

I know it should be polished aluminum...I just can't cope with the amount of work polishing an entire bike frame. I am thinking to powder coat my newly acquired 957 frame with a natural aluminum looking color. Any thoughts?

why not polish it up and pwder coat clear???

because it would defeat the whole idea of 'not polishing' it? Ah, ah...I do like the natural aluminum better than polished, polishing it seems against the nature of mountain biking really. Did the 957 come polished and not painted from the factory in order to be the lightest possible?

Hi,
Polishing it isn't really that much work. I stripped and polished a Cannondale last winter and I estimate that after the ordeal of removing the paint, I put in about 4 hours of wet sanding & final polishing with Mother's. Granted, it is not a mirror finish, but it looks pretty decent from 10-feet away.

Why dont you have it ceramic polished using a vibratory tumbler. I use them for car wheels. A bike frame might be tough due to the size, but with the rear triangle removed it shouldnt be a big deal.

Hi,

That would required a hell of a tumbler and a ton of media. I only have a 5lbs tumbler anyway.
