Proflex 854 questions and stuff

I got this proflex today, I seen many mixed feelings on them. alot of people who ride newer bikes bash them but Ive wanted one some time and I couldnt pass this one up. I think of these bikes as a marvel. ive seen alot of old bikes but these ones are unique and have alot of neat things about them. like the weird back brake.
Anywho What should I look for bewfore riding it? Should I break it down and regrease/check for wear?
Both suspention parts need fixing/replacing. Anyone know any good options?
This is the bike

Hi and welcome
I had a 754 for a few years basically the same bike different
group set.
Nice light strong bike only ever needed F&R elastomers and
front bushing set all stuff still available.
I upgraded to V brakes but original cantilevers are ok.
Long stem by today's standards puts your weight well forward
good for climbing get your arse off the seat when going down
hills or sudden dips it might ping you forward.
If you are modding or swapping out parts keep the old stuff
it maybe handy in the future.
Ride and enjoy.

If you've always wanted one, just ride and enjoy!
I bought new elastomers for my 252 from here a few months ago:
http://www.suspensionforkparts.net/
He has what you'll need to repair the shocks and, maybe just as important, the instructions on how to replace them.
t might be 20 years old, but it was ahead of it's time.

What elastomers do I got for this? theres many on that site. Also the spring in front fork is broken. well theres stuff around it broken. any source on adecent replacement with abit more travel and actualy works? lol
Im gonna play around with the bike today. Cant notice in the picture but the rear derailure Wanted to become best friends with the back wheel and went to see it but the wheel rejected it and the derailure was murdered by the back wheel... Lool But a jockey wheel isnt broken so I can fix the exact one I have thats missing one. other then these issues the bikes almost like new.

Hi Welcome to the group.
Great bike the 845 (I've just finished restoring mine
)
Originally the front fork would have had elastomers similar to the rear and not a spring.
To be honest the spring makes for a rather harsh ride, convert it back to the elastomer
Send me a pm and I will send you a copy of the 1984 Proflex brochure which features the 845 in red.
The link above to the suspension fork guys is all you need, send the guys an email and tell them you have an 845 and a Girvin 1 Suspension fork, they will sort you out.
If you get stuck, drop me a line, or post on here, someone will have an answer.
Could I trouble you to measure the headtube badge, only need a width and a height at both high and low points at the top - cheers
Andy (with an 845, 855, 856, 656 in the hoard!)

I also STILL have my old 854, bought the frame brand spanking new (built with all the parts I wanted minus the girvin fork I couldnt afford at the time) and rebuilt the back shock a couple years back with the elastomers from that link posted above....I am quite happy with it and gave the bike new life again....and still riding it on the trails most of the time...
