THINKING OF SELLING PROFLEX BEAST 1997
« on: January 19, 2011, 08:59:05 am »
Bonjuer boys and girls

Am considering selling my 1997 Proflex Beast its a Way Big frame so probably ideally suit riders 6ft+

Hardly been used (wasnt used at all between 2001 until mid 2010) so all parts hardly any wear and just the odd scratch and chip.

Replaced the Girvin triple clamps with a set of Magura Asgard forks which have been ridden on 3 times (25 miles tops) had a new FSA pig headset and stem at same time (thinking about it if want the retro look have a yellow X lite stem but paint is bit tatty) also upgraded shifters to ESP 9.0 but think have the originals which were ESP 7.0 from memory.

Once ive sorted out my CCC chilli con carne for tea  ;D might give it a quick wash and take some photos.

Trying to get an idea of what to ask for it, would rather it go to someone who appreciates it for what it is and not some pikey wanting a dirt cheap bargain on ebay. So thought would ask on here first and then maybe also put on retrobike

Pics would be good, would you consider splitting? Is it the world cup design frame?

Right will figure out how to get photos up am assuming upload to something like photobucket and cut and paste a hyperlink?

Not sure if its the world cup frame (can vaguely remember a world cup design frame with the girvin elastomer forks ansd elastomer at back, this had the triple clamp forks which replaced and noleen shock) and suppose you will know when see it. Not sure about splitting depends what after and what offering I guess.

Right back in 5.... I will get some work done this morning its 10:42  ;D

Oh by the way im in Kendal gateway to The Lakes and shite indoor shopping centres full of OAPS who smell of lavender and urine who come on a coachtrip from Norfolk to buy some K Shoes and 1kg bag of dried fruit from Julian Graves  :D

Spec is pretty much as follows

97 Proflex Beast way big frame size
Magura Asgard air oil 100mm travel forks (like new maybe 25 miles of use just slight mark in one of fork stickers)
FSA pig headset (fitted same time as forks so new)
Trans X stubby stem (fitted same time as forks)
Magura HS11 brakes with pretty newish pads
Girvin CSS 3 Sugino crank
24 speed
Deore LX front mech
Sram ESP 7.0 rear mech
Noleen rear shock
Upgraded sram ESP 9.0 shifters
Deore LX hubs
WTB speedmaster rims
Titec hellbent bars
Even got the original tyres hung up in garage with loads of tread on them Michellin wildgripper lite  ;D (bet they are like hens teeth)

Also pretty sure have the ESP 7.0 shifters and an x lite stem in yellow but that is a bit tatty paint had that on a nashiki alien

Bet bike hasnt even covered 800 miles, noticed my signature which said proflex beast not moved in 5 years well that ended up being 9 1/2 at least. Stuck the new forks on etc still never used it until September last year. When it comes to exercise I dont like to rush into it....thats how injuries happen  ;D

What do you think it could fetch or is a sensible asking price?

Sorry, tough to answer that, too low and we insult you, too high and we mislead you...............

But IMHO, worst case could be as low as £150 up to £450 if you get a couple of really keen people on eBay

The market will decide..................
