I just got a 24" rear wheel - just to play around, get better acceleration for jumps, and out of switchbacks - but I wonder whats the bigger size tire that a disco monkey can take?? anybodyknows???

the largest 24" tire I got on my 99 Monkey was a Highroller 24 x 2.7 (@ a 2.5 actual). Doesn't leave much room though.
I would suggest the IRC Kujo 24x2.35 or an Arrow Bite 24x2.1HD (actual 2.3). Good luck 24's are frickin rad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do those choices take into consideration the clearance needed for a rc shock?

Yeah, but my frame is and XL, so it wasn't really an issue. From my understanding there aren't any clearence issues running an RC with a 24. The only issue I was aware of was when running an RC on SM/Med frames you needed a 24.
