I've lurked here for years and posted on and off. Been much the same with the riding of my Proflex's. I've posted my bikes here before in various incarnations as they have changed over the years.
Recently though I was approached by a website to review the bike (a 955). I doing so I have decided to try to go back to as original a spec as possible and with the second frame (an 855) build a modern interpretation of the bike.

. There will be follow ups to this as the finished shock mount returns in a few weeks and then when the bike is finally complete.
The bike is actually rideable as it is, but the intent is really to have the two bikes build to a standard that I can take them endurance racing and get rid of my more modern stuff. I've got a mate on a near mint 956 as well and we are trying to get together a bit of a local proflex team for the races.
If any of you know though, I wouldn't mind knowing what the spec was on the 955 in its original form. While I am the original owner of mine, mine was purchased frame only and built up from there so my spec was completely different. Once I know the proper spec I can start trawling ebay for pieces. It may take a long time, and I may never get there, but lets see how it goes.

That bikepedia entry is pretty much right on. That is pretty much how my 955 came built.

Funny after my last post, I have tracked down the grip shift shifters and had someone offer me XTR hubs from that year (not proper spec I know).
There is an XTR mech on ebay as well, although its in pretty poor condition.
I'll be in touch about the cranks.
UKreg says the team bike was red.....not sure I can respray the 955, so it may be built on the 855.

Hi all! I'm starting to restore a 955. The Bikepedia page for the 955 has since expired. Does anyone know the spec details (derailleurs, shifters, rims, hubs, etc) that came on these bike originally?
Found this but it's not complete and I don't know how accurate it is...

IMO The specs don't seem accurate as all of the components look boutique. But then you never know.

So I needed a new rear shock and I wanted to go with an ODS/coil unit but my rear linkage isn't right for it so I bought this 856 eBay last evening. It looks like it's all stock except for the front Noleen unit.
It has the ferrules I'm looking for as well as a Noleen front shock!
Will either be parting this 856 out or slap on the incorrect parts from my 955 and try and sell the whole thing.

Coming together!
So far I have put on:
-Front and rear M900 XTR
-Chris King headset
-Paul's Stop Lights + Love Levers
-GS X-Ray 800's (NOS)
Waiting for my ODS+coil unit for the Vectors as well as a rear coil
Still need to locate:
-Syncros Ti seat tube and Flite saddle
-Front Panaracer Magic (butterscotch)
Also need to take the hubs (Nuke Proof) and rims (217 SUP sunsets) to get put together
