vector 2 rebuild
« on: August 10, 2009, 11:33:31 pm »
Hi
just stripped down and rebuilt my vector 2 front end on my 1995(?) 955
a, on the top linkage there is a shaft on a cam,how do you set this up?
b, can you get new bushes for the vector 2?
c, i am thinking of turning the forks round so that the axle is facing forward. I hate going downhill on it since you feel that you are always going over the front & at the moment the axle sits behind the end of the stem (looking from the side and taking a straight line from stem to axle) looking at most modern bikes and riding a few the front feels much better with it sitting forward more.
d, is there a rebuild guide for vector 2's have looked in the how to section, nothing there?

Hi,
a) the cam is the axle path adjustment. i.e the "J-Path" effect.
Factory default is "Sensitive Mode" - chamfered end of hole pointing up and back. Minimal preload on the spring will provide maximum sensitivity.
OR: "Anti-Pogo Mode" - chamfered end of hole pointing forward and down. The more "J-shaped" axle path, more in line with large bump forces, combined with substantial pre-load on the spring, will give a fork that is stiff for climbing, but accommodates medium and large bumps without limiting wheel travel.

b) If you mean the plastic bushes (bearings), then yes you can, it's kit RK006

Some one was selling some a while ago on eBay:

Maybe they've got some left.

c) Could be interesting.......It's your neck.........someone has done it with Crosslinks.........

d) Instructions are with the RK006 kit
