855 build info

ok guys i'll admit i'm an newb to the proflex scene but ive wanted on for a very long time.  like since 94 or 95 when i first saw one.  now on to my question.  looking for info on what you proflex gurus would recomend i start looking for to build up my 855 with noleen crosslink forks.  i got it from gearlessinseatle over on retrobike.co.uk if you wanna check out the pics.  thanks for the help and any info you guys can give me on the 855.  any 855 back story you guys can give me would be great aswell.  thanks again.

I have an 855 with mostly XT. Wheelset's a bit heavy though, so looking to change that.

Wow, it totally blows my mind how much these things were new. It's hard to imagine shelling out that much for any bike, let along the $3K they can run these days. At this point I've probably invested a sizable amount in my Proflex addiction, but that's for a cheap platform I really like and exactly the components I wanted. Nothing is more frustrating than spending big cash for a new bike and then finding the little shortcuts made in the component set (cheap, heavy bottom brackets, less expensive front derailleurs and no-name brakes, etc.). Case in point: my Cervelo S2 came with Shimano RS10 wheels...wheels I could get about $150 for on a $4K bike. I'm in love with the frame, though :-)
