What the heck is going on here?
Anyone remember this? Can't quite wrap my head around what the shock is doing.

ha! it's a lomg travel kit that uses the same principle as the old RDS long travel kits - except ours, for the x56 and x57 bikes had to have a really long set of struts to the rear strut/swingarm pivot. I'm not sure what the guard is for on the swingarm though???

Vewy vewy cwever... that is a cool way to get more travel out of the swingarm with less shock travel.
Bet that sucker is HEAVY.

That swingarm reminds me of the original one from my 754...obviously with some major mods. Gotta say I'd love to try it on a DH bike, but I wouldn't want to climb with all that weight.

I still don't get it.
I agree, the silver linkages don't appear to do anything.

aren't they there to allow you to adjust the travel? If you move the bottom mount along that U shaped trajectory it changes the angle of the shock. I'm guessing you can tighten the bottom shock mount at any point along that trajectory somehow?

The assumption I make is that as you move the lower shock mount along that curved slot, the silver linkage opens up more and so forces an increas in the shock length.
I think this would have the effect of pivoting the swingarm down more and thus increasing the BB height and maybe the "plushness" of the travel?
As it is in it's current position the travel would be less and with more pre-load and so firmer?
The shock looks like it has two coils on it, the top one more tightly wound than the lower one?
Anyway, an interesting "beast", what is it's history?
