'96 MBA review of 957/Noleen NR-1

while going thru some old mags i found a 11/96 MBA that has a review of the '97 957 with the girvin carbon fork. they raved about the bike and the great improvement over previous proflexes. the pic of the 957 cover 2 pages.
the same issue discusses the 10 worst/best mtb products of all time.
better sit down, IFO. one of the 10 best is the noleen nr-1 that came out in the early '90's. MBA credits noleen with giving "full suspension bikes the jump start they needed to convince the skeptical mtb community that rear suspension was here to stay"!!!!!!

heheh in 97 ANY shock was a step above what was out there....
my old 656 with its Yellow jello-mello bumpers had such a varied ride depending on weather conditions...
back then i desperatly wanted the Noleen spring upgrade....
of course this is 2003...
cant say i miss any of it for my current riding...

when i bought my 857 in fall of '97 it was like the "bike of the year" or something like that. i distinctly remember trying many bikes out, hardtail and FS and one ride on the Pro~Flex and i was smitten...
btw MBAction doesn't have one reference to k2 bikes in their annual bike review issues (feb and march) no razorback, no tirade, no nothing, that i could find. either k2 is not advertising at all in MBA (why would they now?) or someone is
with k2, is my guess

I have and still ride my 856 but I have the coil springs not elastomers. I love it. My friends like to swap bikes if we do alot of climbing. Are there any bike that climb like that any more? I think I will ask the board!
