« on: October 29, 2008, 04:22:51 pm »
I am looking for a long travel kit for my 856. Does anyone have one or know where I can get one.

you know, the last LTK I sold for the 856 was in 1999.

However, I tripped over a heavy box in the workshop and found loads of LTK struts - that brought back memories.  We won't be selling any - to be honest, it is cheaper to buy a long travel frame nowadays.  Back in the day a 5" travel XC bike would have been rare - nowadays most FullS bikes have that travel and are a lot better at it too.

yes but they're not 856's - I asked you about this a year or two back (before the tripping incident I guess!!) - are you definitely not going to sell? ;)

well, OK, the kit comes in 4 pieces:
+ left long arm
+ right long arm
+ 2 identical L shape brackets
+ lots of bolts
+ teflon bushings

I only have the long arms in a box,  not the L shape bits or any bushings.  What I will do however, is I need to train myself on CAD so I will do the drawings of the LTK9596 and offer it up for anyone who wants it. can't promise a time because I've got so much work to do with a new project I'm working on.

Do you mean you will offer the drawings for people to make their own or new kits?

Yeah, I was gonna say...when I saw the LTK on one of the forum member's bikes in the picture thread I thought there's nothing too problematic about recreating the kit or something like that. Are you supposed to use the stock strut, but with different rear stay attachment points because of the "L" shaped thingies? Then all you'd need to know if the length of those bands than come down to the rear stays from the shock mount...right?
