Good luck Andy!! That's an interesting set up he has. Wouldn't like to ride all day with a rucksack though. Not much choice on a Proflex!

Hmmmmm, yes that was my thought, that rear carrier load looks a bit top heavy and I wouldn't want a rucksack on all day!
I think he's quite highly loaded 'cos he's hoping to camp some nights.

Maybe he should have got a Post Porter rear rack, like mine, which takes a pair of medium panniers a treat!

Anyway, I might see him in Northamptonshire this Sunday, so we'll see how he's getting on then!

Hi guys, thanks for the posts.

Its the end of the first week and i made it back to my home town, well almost. (too much to go into here!) www.pedaluk.co.uk if you want the lowdown.

ive been plagued by injuries all week so was behind time untill the last two days, i pushed hard and now im paying for it.

ive also got a few probs with the bike that i need to sort asap.  The bike was pretty flawless until yesterday (well apart from a missmatched drivetrain)  but then the freewheel tightened up so now it wants to spin the pedals all the time and when i stopped them, it spits the chain off.

Stripped the wheel down at the side of the road but couldnt fathom why its doing it.  nothing broken, nothing can fall off, it spind freely until you start to tighten the axel up, then when the wheel is clamped by the skewer it gets even worse.  cant believe the thing wasnt smoking down some of the hills i was flying down yesterday!

keep up the good work - don't let the setbacks put you off... what kind of adventure would it be without a story to tell?

Yep, still resting on the advice of physio.

Going to try a ride later today, although not too hopeful as i still have knee pain.

Was planning to set off again tomorrow, but will see what happens.

Any updates? The last on his site was Aug. 25. Did he ride off the end of the earth?

I think the vet decided to put him down (no sense in prolonging his suffering!) <GRIN>

Well Done Andy, hope you're mending!

Incidentally, you might see another 856 (XP-X) attempting the LE to JO'G...........

One of my old mates is suggesting we do this in 2010, as it's 25 years since he last did it!

On the plus side that gives me 18+ months to get fit, but I'll be two years older as well!

Or maybe it's an excuise to get another bike....................<GRIN>
