Saturdays ride!
« on: April 13, 2008, 09:46:47 pm »
No ride today as I promised the daughter a trip to the mall  >:(. Saturday rode the China Flats area of California State park at Cheseboro Rd. About 12 miles round trip from the parking area. My 957 performed just amazingly. Every component is right where I like. ;D

Steep trail to China Flats

Made it!

Just beyond the sign is this pond which hosts ducks and geese.

Very cool!  Not just the bike or the scenery--but that you've posted in one night about two different nice rides on two different great bikes!
Thanks for the pictures.  It's heartening to be reminded that the sun does indeed exist.  (just not where I am :'()

Oh Crap!!! :o

That shivers me timbers! I would have been cowering under the comforter drinking hot chocolate. :-[

Skoddy, my family lived in Bremerton for a couple of years. We had to go to Tacoma for sunshine. :P I remember riding the bus to school every day, having to put our wet jackets is a special drying room. We were not allowed any food in our pockets because of spoilage or melting(or frogs). If it was not pouring rain, it was drizzle. >:(

Just behind our house(rented) we could see the beach, but we were not allowed to go there because of drunken tribesmen. Fishing and drinking, that must have been the life. About 5 houses down the road was a creepy forest, kind of like a bog. My mother would get so pissed when we came back home mud caked and barefoot. Our shoes buried in the mud, but we had lots of toad and frogs which we had to set free. We did that every stinking day! ??? Some really crazy memories of the Pacific Northwest.

I'm jealous. Everything here is still brown and muddy. Trails are just now starting to dry out. I've gotten lazy in my old age and don't like cleaning a trashed bike. Managed to do a short dirt road ride today but it sure wasn't picture worthy. Keep those pictures coming, they are encouraging to us Northerners

Mud mud mud, is what riding localy is all about since November, some weeks it starts to dry out and turns into real sapping clay then along comes another couple of days of rain and were back in slurry.
Heres some pics of my little boy Robin plowing on bravely through the gloop on his new bike.

Me Too! ;) Ozzie is back in action, so out we go.

This is Santa Monica Mtns, Sycamore Cyn/Guadalasca Loop Trail head. I always liked that peak. Yes, that is me!

Looking back at old ranch road leading to Guadalasca Trail

Making the climb up Guadalsca to Overlook trail at peak

Now on Overlook trail ridgerunning alongside canyon

Now descending Overlook to ocean

At the bottom, heading back up Sycamore Cyn Trail to the car.

Happy Riding!!!!

love it - I'm a real convert. It's not always practical though. I do have another bike set up as dual-speed for rides where a bit of roadwork is required and I don't want to be spinning away in 34:16!

Also a convert to fully rigid too - although I won't be getting rid of my remaining 2 proflexes!

Great looking Oz, Terry!  Those forks--what are they??  Please tell me I can find them easily, and for about 100 bucks. hahaha
Funny that you grew up in Bremerton and now live where you do.  I was born in Van Nuys, moved to Tahoe for a brief teaser stint, then moved here to Washington.  I would have stayed in Tahoe, but I was two years old at the time and after much consideration though it best to follow my parents.  What can I say?  I was a pretty dumb two-year old ;)

Saturday before last was perfect here.  70 and sunny.  This last Saturday....notsomuch.

Odd for this time of year, and incredibly frustrating!

Those forks are Mavericks. I like them.

Van Nuys? My kid has a part time job at the brewery in Van Nuys.  ;)
