x55 and x56 frame differences
« on: February 28, 2008, 11:31:17 am »
Anyone know if Proflex changed(improved, beefed up weak points, etc.) the 855 style frame from 1995 to 1996 or 1997.  I have a cracked 855 frame and a 756 with a creak that I am hoping is the bottom bracket or the swing arm.

The 855 is world cup frame, like the 856? Only thing I know about 856 alum swingarm is a patch installed on the drive side of the swingarm above the front pivot.

Is that "re-pad" to compensate for the hole for the rear derailleur cable?
Wasnt there 2 pads welded to the seat tube just under the bend.
Noticed that the XP-8(ESSENTIALLY 856 FRAME) doesnt have them!

my 855 has that extra patch weld on the swingarm.

I think my XP-8 had a gussett under the downtube where it meets the head tube which my 855 doesn't have. Check Mr752's photos as that is my old XP-8.

Yes, the re-pad stiffens the top during driveside load. The hole does not help any either.
