Welcome to the next version of the tech forum.

Everything will look a little different for a bit, until I can get some of the old decorations back up.

Other than that, you should have all your usual features - posting, private messages, etc, etc.

If you have any questions, send me an email (grimjack@idriders.com) a PM here, or connect to one of my IM services, I'm on AIM, ICQ, YIM, and Meebo.  Or call me, for that matter, as long as you don't mind footing the long distance bill!

This is great. Thanks for all your hard work keeping this alive through the years.

On the rare occasion when this has gone down, it struck me just how important this group really is to me. My daughters call you guys my "imaginary friends," but even they know what a great group you are. (And when they met Simon in England they thought his kids were cool, too.)

Looking forward to meeting more of y'all in the coming years.

Will

I agree with you on the stickies, I'll see what I can figure out.  I thought it would be easy to change the colours, but looks like it's harder than I thought!

Woot!  Only a few missteps along the way for the sticky separation.  Seems to be working for me now though!

Gotta learn some new icons but this looks GREAT. Thanks again.

the icons are very very similar to the old forum.....I know they didnt work though....hover your mouse over each icon and it will display some text, most are pretty straight forward

the tables are the hardest to figure out...they are for creating a table in your post
a1a2
b1b2
disregarding the square brackets the "code' for the above table is
table tr td a1 /td td a2 /td /tr tr td b1 /td td b2 /td /tr /table
start table entry with table tr is new row td is column /td is end of that column entry repeat for as many columns as required then end that row with a /tr and start  new row with tr...and so on end last row with /tr then /table

is teletype
insert your text between the tt /tt,square brackets ignored again

is list
  • line one
  • line two
  • line three
code for above list(again no square brackets shown is
list li line one /li li line two /li li line three /li /list

in all examples the spaces are not required
hope this helps!!!

Things are going to be a little slow for a bit - Google just discovered the change, and their spiders are running through the place now.  They don't seem to be running a ridiculous amount of load, kindly enough, but it's still noticeable.

As an extra added bonus, the server load went from ~25-40% on average to something so small it's not even measurable.

I guess the old forum's method of storing each user / post / pm as a separate file on the hard drive really doesn't compare well to anything with a proper database back end!

I gotta say..."Kudos to DAVE!!!" This site is unbelievably faster than it was. I used to have to wait close to 20 seconds sometimes for the forum to load up (and in the mean time, I couldn't go to any other websites as my whole browser would be "preoccupied.") Now it's almost instantaneous! Love it. I also love that I can see multiple messages in my inbox at the same time. Nice touch... Can't wait to see the Galleries up and running again!
