Hey buds,

This is my larger 856. I've just completed the sealed bearing conversion on this one. It really is a fine frame with welded rear disk mount.

Regrets to y'all who trade in Euros and Pounds Sterling... While it would be a great deal in your currency (today), it would be tough to ship.

Nice frame. Interesting that the Way Big in the 856 is very different to the Way Big on my 857 - that has a very long head tube, 21" c-t seat tube and I think at least a 23" top tube c-c. The head tube looks different because on mine the down tube and the top tube don't meet at the end, there's a clear 2-3" on the headtube between them.

Good luck with the sale on a fine bike :-) Sorry - hope I haven't hijacked your frame!

Only (!) 6'3" but I have a 35" inside leg (inseam), but a relatively short back so need the risers and hi-rise stem to meet my arms!!

I feel your pain to a lesser extent.  Made the mistake of buying a road frame that is too small for me.  Long stem, seat pushed back etc.

Well she's found a good home! A young engineering student showed up today and took the shiny 856 home.

I was going to cry, but I think she went to a good home. (I also kept my SS 856 and Trance..)

Matt has plans to build her up and ride her in the woods. He'll make a great new addition to this crowd of retro lunatics.
Cheers,
Will

that's great - I think it makes it so much easier when you know it's going to an appreciative home. I just sold my XP-8 to a guy who has a lovely 752 as well so I know it'll be in safe hands. :-)

Ahh, go ahead and cry. Better to have loved and lost, than never have loved at all.

Just got the 856 assembled tonight, I have some chain length issues but other than that I love it. I took it for the first ride and was amazed at the handling. It felt like a rocket compared to my KHS. Thanks agian Will for all the help.

Well I haven't got a chance to weigh it yet since it has been assembled for almost a day now, but my guess is around 25 pounds. I hope that the photo links work. This last link I am posting is of my other bike (KHS) The rear derailer blew appart into pieces on it today so it is a good thing I just got the Proflex working. http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd126/mgreen11/051.jpg
