Frame Shock K2 Beast
« on: May 31, 2007, 08:19:53 am »
Hey Dudes,  I have recently scoped out a K2 Beast in great condition and a good price.  The one problem is the rear shock leaks.  Does anyone have an extra laying around?  Any mod. ideas?  This is the model with the shock that goes through the seat tube via an extender.

That's the one shock I haven't seen anyone successfully modify. Personally, I'd stay away from that one just because of the limited upgrade (or even replacement) possibilities.
K2 5000 Large w/Avid discs, Bontrager Race Disc Modified wheels, Manitou Minute, Swinger 3-way
K2 5000 Med ("wife's") w/Avid V's, Mavic CrossLink wheels, Manitou X-vert, Risse Astro-5

Yeah, that shock is a real pain.  I managed to dismantle the shock and replace the seal with one from a later nr-1 I had laying around--it works.  I guess if worse came to worse, I could get another coil over and thread the shaft to fit the extender.  For now I'm riding it.  That frame is built like a tank.  I did a few drops on it wihout complaint.  Going uphill is not overly fun though.
