PROFLEX ANIMAL

Alright people,
My name is Darren and I am new to the forum. I have just bought a Proflex, which I am yet to receive.
Bought at the last minute I did not do much research and now that I have had time to I am wondering if you guys can give me any more info. (see image below).
The seller has described it as the Animal model, however I thought the Animal was a later model and as a result had springs as opposed to the elastomers as fitted on this model. If it is'nt the Animal model as suggested could you let me know what you think it is.
Also, if you have any general tips or guidance it would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks and keep up the good work.
Darren

thats a 1996 animal same frame as 756 and 856 but with magura hydraulic brakes. The wheels look like upgrades too.Get a rear shock and some new forks and you will have a really good MOUNTAIN bike

Thats a bit of a mix of bikes.
There was a 1996 Animal that was based on the 856 frame but thats not it. The 96 animal had a blue swingarm and ODS shocks.
That bike has 1995 855 non-dampened shocks and a vector 1 so must be a small supply distributor model at the tail end of 1995 - so the bike is closer to a 756 or an 855/955. Not all Animals are the same unfortunately!
The Magura's are not the HS11's that proflex used to sell, these are the aftermarket ones.
The elastomers look like they are crushed at the front - so you'll need to think about getting new MCU's (if you can). i sell springs but only for the later ODS shocked bikes.

That is definately an aminal. The paint scheme on the front triangle is the same as the 97 Beast that I had. My guess is that this is a limited edition freeride model.
You could probably swap out the elastomer rear strut with an x56 coil strut or upgrade to Callums spring upgrade.
The front fork could be upgraded econically with a slider. I think someone said that they had a 4 inch chubby for sale.
The brakes are OK, but heavy. If you keep them, upgrade the crossover lines with braided ones.
But the bike is gorgeous. What a rare find. [smiley=nod.gif]
