756 MCU Elastomers

Hi, I'm rehabbing an old ProFlex 756 and the elastomers are rock solid.  Anybody know (1) how I could soften them up (not likely) or (2) where I could get some replacement, aftermarket shocks for both the rear suspension and the Vector2 fork?

Someone named Banger posted a gallery of a melted elastomer on his 756... anyone know how to get ahold of this guy to find out what happened?

Well, If you want those MCU springs you may still be able to get them from REI if you are in the States.  I don't know what the current status of K2 is though.  In the mean time,  here are a couple of methods that have "worked" for me.   One is to place them in a ziplock bag, put them in a pot and fill the pot with very warm, but not hot, water and just letting them sit, keeping the water warm by regular adding.  If they are not too far gone they will soften up for a while.  The other method is to microwave them, but I have had less success with this method.  It is done by incremental bursts of radiation on a low setting.  (6 sec. at a time until soft.)  Just don't over do it.  I have also heard of just putting the springs in a sun exposed window  for some sloooow heating.  In the end I just got a Noleen fork and rear shock and never looked back.  Good luck!

I just got off the phone with K2 (now owned by iron horse) and they have new elastomers for sale in limited durometer ranges. cheap.  also look at risse racing's link from this site.  they have bolt on air shocks for your bike.
