Fifth Element CVT 5 - 7.875inch I2I
« on: March 30, 2006, 02:03:06 am »
There's one for sale locally, and the price seems pretty good  I just put my Romic on, or I'd probably be all over this.  Isn't 7.875" the stock I2I length?

The guy also has a set of RaceFace cranks, Raceface carbonfiber handlebars, and Thompson stem that I already emailed about getting, so I'm going to meet up with him anyway - if anybody is interested in this, I'll look the shock over and see if it looks like its in good shape.

The eye-eye length on all is 7.875” with 22mm wide mounting hardware and a 2.00inch stroke. 5-way adjustable.

Platform Damping™ Control (PDC) provides improved power and pedaling efficiency. Square-edge blow-off elminates the harshness of standard shocks. Complete bottoming control. PDC enables the 5th Element™ to utilize much lighter spring rates than other standard shocks which provides a much smoother ride as well as being lighter weight.

this is in or around West Seattle

Could you run this thing on a strut bike if a suitable adapter was made?

Well you could but it is going to raise your bottom bracket too much. You could offset with a 6 or 7 inch fork.

I think the max i2i you would want to mount with an adapter is 7.25.

I mounted a 7.5 i2i but tucked the end into the cone of the strut. Welded a plate to each side of the strut.
