A Great Day With Proflex

Yeah Baby!
Had a lovely solo ride with great downhills, a few stupids, and cool weather for the long climbs. And no wipe outs! (Saw a few wild hogs, too.
Not friendly creatures.) I think I'll do it again tomorrow and the next day... or until the little wife puts her foot down
Also finished up the Proflex Chopper. My girls really don't want it, so it's off to ebay...

Love the chopper Will - that would be perfect for our annual Clunker Classic World Championship here in the UK. Two rules - no MTBs, and first to slap their hand on the bar of the pub in the Ship Inn, Porlock, after a 4 mile rocky rooty twisty slow techy fast sketchy descent is the winner! Love what you've done with your 856 too - how did you fit the roller (I'm doing my 955 as a full singlespeed), and could you make one of your disc mounts easily (as I think the swingarm is the same and Callum is out of the x56 HammerHead)?

That Clunker Classic sounds like my kind of race... [smiley=beer.gif] when and where is it?
The brake is relatively easy...
1. Put a disk wheel on the back and clamp a caliper on the rotor.
2. Rotate the wheel so the caliper "bumps" up against the swingarm.
3. Make a paper pattern of the brake boss and cut it out of 1/4" aluminum on a bandsaw.
4. Bolt the whole thing together and get a welder to join the boss to the swingarm.
The chain roller was a neat coincidence...
The axle for the chain roller wheel does double duty as the main pivot bolt. Very elegant solution for a SS front end. (When was the last time you needed the front derailleur?)
To do this, you'll need 3 standard bearings from a set of Roller Blades, a "spare" roller from an MRP chain roller, a long bolt, and a couple of bushings & washers.
This would be a loooong explanation, so it might be easier to post pictures.
Two neat features:
It will work on the early 856's that don't have the pivots drilled on center.
The bearings from inline skates fit perfectly in the swingarm clamps... and they are cheap and easy to find.
