Simon,

the wheels are A Class Vectra D2's. I have a set on my carbon hardtail. they are fairly light and are basically bombproof.

Jeff picked a good set of wheels, and they are also relatively inexpensive.

yup your right dennis, they are vectra d2`s, they were tested in this months singletrack magazine and they were listed as weighing 740 grams front and 1045 grams rear which competes well with other wheels that cost twice as much such as the mavic crossride disc at 872 f and 964 r, they are 11 grams heavier for twice the listed price. by the way i only paid £64 for mine brand new off ebay!! not £229 which is the listed price. ive had them nearly a year and have yet to touch them with a spoke key.
an oz is for life , not just for xmas!

mmm dunno if thats a mickey take or not, i just think of it this way, i cant afford super light wheelsets costing more than i paid for my car or titanium this or that, i have to buy the lightest components i can within my very restricted budget. im trying to get the bike below 26lbs which is my goal and very respectable for a `99 bike and a hell of a lot better than some of todays exotica, sorry if ive taken the last remark the wrong way but im on a mission!!

No man, keep hacking away! A little bit goes a long way! 140 grames is almost 1/3 of a lb. in one shot. A few more like that and you will make the goal.

I have my oz down to 26.5 lbs on mostly Ebay gear, or discount catalog purchases. But man it is tough going lighter without sacrificing comfort. Actually I have started upgrading my other bike now that Ozzy rides so good. I am planning on keeping the V-brake on the rear as it is so smooth and light.

Try the tubes next. I have found that with the fat tires I am pinch flating less. So I am running a 90 gram tube in a 2.4 front tire relliably.

How many times have I mentioned that mine weighs 24.25 lbs/ 11 kg?  :P  And that's with a Girvin fork.  I'll be quiet now.  But sweet ride none the less.  Probablly must of the wieght comes from the bullet proof tires.  I'm running mich Comp S Lites with a Stan's tubless conversion.  Even at over 200lbs, I've never had a problem with flats.  Enjoy the sweet ride man.
