Seat Post and Steerer enquiry
«

I have a 1996 Proflex Beast, does any one know the seat post diameter?I fancy a nice new Carbon one.
Also, I want to change my Forks to some Girvin Elite Crosslinks I bought, but they have the steerer cut down. I'm trying to get hold of a steerer. The Steerer on my Girvin Crosslinks is a 1" Steerer [smiley=disbelief.gif]which means I can't buy a new stem really. So does anyone have one lying about I can buy?
Thanks for looking all! Steve

27.2 should be the seatpost diameter. The crosslink has me puzzled though. All crosslinks have a 1 and 1/8 steerer. To fit the crosslink to your 96 bike you will need a new stem anyway cos the 96 bikes had a 1 inch steerer on the vector forks. So a new headset,a new stem, some spacers to get the proper C/M and you are set
Instructions here
you need to use the shorter C/M measurement
You can buy a new steerer...

Thanks Kiwi, Trouble is that my "new" Crosslink Elites have a Steerer that is way to short, so really I need a new steerer from somewhere but don't know where. The Steerer on my 1996 Crosslinks is 1" as you mentioned so its not like I could swap them to the "new" ones. Well I suppose I could but it would mean swapping the top mount as well, and I would have to use my 1996 Stem which is 1". Do you know where I can buy a new 1 1/8" Steerer?
