New Fifth Element Air
« on: June 13, 2005, 10:11:41 am »
I was at one of the local bike shops that sells Specialized.  On one of their new '05 Enduros,  there was a silver FiIFTH ELEMENT AIR with Specialized on the label.  The shock was 8.5" long.  If it will mount up, it looks like a contender.   The only thing is, it might be a Specialized only item for now.  Anybody else seen this one?

Have not seen one, but it would be sweet.

Manitou came out with an 8.5 Swinger 4 way, 2.5 inches of travel. I reckon the 5th would produce the same.

One of the local riders got a 05 S Works Enduro.  $5,000 big ones.  It's got that massive air shock you're referring too.  You can't tell by the pictures but that shock barely clears the hole in the seattube.  I also think it's too thick to clear the EVO styled swingarm.

That S-Works bike is light.  Of course it's got full on XTR.

Yeah the shock body is pretty fat on the Fifth.  I doubt that it would fit, now that you mention it.  The Enduro IS pretty light with the all xtr treatment.  But at $5000  :o ,  no wonder it said "ask" on the price at my LBS.  Cheaper for me to play with every possible shock out there--more fun too.  I'll keep my Oz, thank you....
