Is this OZ a Way Big??  Please look
« on: February 24, 2005, 01:33:26 pm »
Ok.... here are the measurments....It measures 21" from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat post clamp. From the center of the head tube to the center of the seatpost is 22".

Is this a Large or a Way Big Frame?

22" center to center top tube? Off the top of my head, I'd say it's about a medium...

My large 5000 measures 23.5 center to center and my wife's medium is about 22.5. My hardtail, for comparison's sake, is 24" c to c on the top tube. A little too big for me, but not bad. Comparable to my bro-in-law's way big Attack, at least in the feel of how much it stretches me...

This one certainly doesn't look like a way big. Seems like I remember that the carbon frames weren't even made in that size, but I could be wrong...

Yes, that is a medium. Mine just measured at 21 bottom bracket to top of seat post clamp, and 23 inches center of head tube to center of seat post. It is a Large

Hi Bruce...

Well, the frame looks in good condition.  I would bid on it with if was larger - I am 6 foot 3 inchs tall and I really do need a Way Big size.  Your about the same height...I can't really say if it will be the right size for you - but the frame will fit better for you than it would for me.  If I was to bid on it I would pay around the $400-$450 range before I back out - the OZ was (and still is) a SUPER FRAME.

Hey Bruce,

I think you knees would hit the bars if you got the med. I am 5'11" and the large fits me well. This is my second Proflex/K2 and large is perfect.

I got my Large Oz for $499 new 2 years ago.
Post pictures of your Evo. I just put a Swinger 3 way on my Oz.

The Oz was only made in the end as a medium or large,I'm 6'1" and have both a large and a medium (I've since given the medium to my son) and had no trouble riding the medium with a 120mm stem and some layback on the seatpost,I do prefer the large but I could easily have a medium if that was all that was available.
Simon.
P.s Bruce don't you mean 99 not 96  ???

The ebay description says 96. I emailed the guy and he says the TT length is 22". That is about 1" shorter than I usually ride. I am not looking at it as a primary ride. More of a show piece. dennis??? I don't know.

I wouldn't worry about your knees hitting the bars too much. I ride both a large and a medium 5000, and I'm 5'11" too. Both work well for a variety of riding situations. In fact, the medium is set up for my wife, with a 90mm stem and little setback in the seatpost, and it still works fine for me (I have a spare 120mm stem just in case though...)

Simon -

Many of the frames are sticker'd with an Omnium 97 - xxxx number.  I still have 97 and 98 sticker'd frames - sold the other 98.  Most of the 97's also have a frame number scratched between the upper shock mount plates, don't recall ever seeing a 98 with number in there.  I believe mine is 0147 - hard to see in there and haven't looked in a long time.

The frames were made in two different runs and one can usually tell an earlier from a later model from the finish (unless it's been recoated)

That frame could have been sold in 96 but as I recall they hit the market in 97.

Just what I remember -

OP
Yeah, they don't make 'em anymore - it's a classic - - -
