Mountainbiking in the Alps!!
«

The second week of June, I'm going on a mountainbike holiday in the Alps, together with my mountainbike mate. We are going to Montriond, near Morzine, where Toure de France history has been written (Hinault, Virenque, etc). I can't hardly wait...
Any of you mountainbike holidays planned?
Jeroen.

No, but tell us all about your plans now and results after you've been!
P.S. Didn't get that NR-4, it was for a x57 type bike, but did get a rear NR-5 smartshock for the 5500!

Hi Stoerevent,
I have mountainbiked in Les Gets (the same area as Morzine/Montriond) for the last three years.
I did my mountainbike leaders course there three years ago and have ridden (and skied) all over tye Portes de Soleil ski area.
You will have a great time. There is a lot of lift served area but most of the lifts will be closed when you are there in early June. The main ones will be open from Morzine itself but you are in for some awesome climbing as well - nothing wrong in that! The Col de Jeux Vert is one of the famous TDF climbs - Samoens to Morzine. I have not ridden it but have done it by car - that was hard enough!
The season and the Lifts officially open in the first week of July with the Free raid Classic event. This is a huge MTB event where you can do a timed circuit around the whole of the Portes de Soleil ski/MtB area. You start anywhere on the loop and take non-timed lifts up for most of the big climbs and then get timed on athe XC and DH sections between. It's a full day's riding and the atmosphere/spirit is supposed to be very good.

My wife is planning our 13th yr anniversary (
am I really that old?!?!)
- she wants to make it a mt.bike trip, and we read that the McKenzie River Trail in Oregon is one of the best trails in the country. Anybody have any experience there?
It's between that and going to Whistler, B.C., but we are already planning on going there later this summer for the
24 Hours Of Adrenalin
mt. bike race. If all goes as planned, my Evo 4.0 will be singletracking all night long (my turns should last about 10 hours)!
