Noleen ELT cross link (cont...)

Hi.
I've always Liked the Girvin designs. It was one of the reasons why I bought my 4500c. But I noticed that they are somewhat Outdated. Even so, I still like mine very much. They are 6 years old and are still as plush as the day i got them.

I Can't put them on any other contemporary bike because geomery has changed since. They are now makeing 18 to 19inch forks from hub to crown race. The crosslink ELT are only 17.75".
It would be a step inthe wrong direction to put them on another make of bicycle.
I might have a solution Though: Do you think I could swap the longer legs of the ELT speced on the extra large bikes onto my current small virsion ELT to gain that extra inch.

no,the longs are actually longer between pivots,ie in the steering head area.most proflex and K2 bikes had headtubes of only 170 mmmax I think some later bikes required the longs but the longs were made to retro fit onto other makes of bikes.....You will need to buy a whole "long" setup

That makes sense.
That means it is imposible to retro-fit or buy the long version Cross Link for a make other then Proflex.
The bushing spacing on the Cross Link make reto-fitting impossible.
And the Long version adapted for a 15 to 18" frames makes for to much spacing when working with a 3.75 to 5" head tube.

I think the k2 Razorbacks (1999) were spec'ed with x~links. That year the Razorback was a hardtail, i'm pretty sure. somebody "kureckt" me if I am wrong. and the HT had pretty much "normal XC hardtail" geometry.

But as far as FS bikes...contemporary, not really.

would be ok for bikes of the same vintage as the x liink itself.....

I guess it would.  But Lately I've been drooling over newer models. Of course, with respect to longevity.
