3000 repair work

Well, I've almost got my K2 3000 back together.  Thanks to everyone here for your help back a few months ago in getting a Risse Genesis for the rear from Bill Larson.  He was great to work with.

I've been replacing things that needed it, and ended up replacing more than I intended due to incompatibilities.  Here's the list so far:

new Hollowtech LX crank and BB (these things are friggin' light!)
new LX/Mavic 221 wheels/hubs (the hubs were shot on the original wheels)
new Risse Genesis on the rear replacing an NR-2
Refurbed NR-2 on the crosslink (refurbed last year and hardly ridden on)
new kevlar-bead tires (Ritchey rear and Michellin front, I think... they're light )
new aluminum Airborne bar and stem (much ligher than the Titec that came with it, and a bit shorter, which my back will appreciate)
new cabling, housing and associated bits from Airborne
rebuilt and regreased the derailleurs (they needed it)

I think that's most of it.  I can already tell that it'll be at least a kilo lighter, probably even more.  This poor bike has needed this for a long time, and it has been quite an adventure getting all the right parts and sorting out what needed replacing and what not: I was going to rebuild the wheels with new bearings and such, but the hubs were just ragged...

Anyway, this is mostly just a "look what I'm doing" post and a thank you for all the help.  I'll post pictures when it is ready, which should be tomorrow, if all goes well.  Looking forward to getting back on the trails!

Woo-hoo!  Finally got to take it out for the second ride today.  First one was last weekend (stupid too-much work).  Feels pretty damn nice!

Had the LBS weight it (they've been very supportive through all this): ~27.5 pounds -- they said their scale was off by at least a half a pound.  How does that compare to other '98-era bikes that ya'll have?

Also, the Genesis seems a bit too bouncy and makes "whooshing" noises when it is active.  I suspect Risse undervalved it, but is this maybe just the break-in time?

Now I've just got to learn how to ride off-road properly again!  I fear for my life on the trail!
