comments on Manitou Black Elite fork?
« on: November 22, 2003, 02:09:54 pm »
after deciding that a set of Fox forks for my hardtail would cost too much, I found a pair of 2003 Manitou Black Elite 80/100 mm travel forks for 270 USD. seemed like a decent deal, so I ordered them.
does anyone have anything good or bad to say about them?
reviews on mtbr.com are mostly good, but mixed.
thanks for any comments  you have.

I would have choosen either the Fox or a Z1. The 2003 Z1's are being closed out at great prices. Rich

Rich,
the Z1's have waaay too much travel for my ht frame.
but thanks for reminding me about Marzocchi and Supergo. found a good deal on a Marathon SL fork there, will cancel manitou order and go for the zoke.

Dennis, I think that was a good choice. I like the Black fork but seems to be undersprung, I have a friend who is relatively light and he still finds it too soft with the 'heavy' spring.
