Rear Shock Adapter - Proflex 857/85x ???

It seems my Noleen rear shock is slowly dying, or at least needs some attention, so I hope to fit a more modern shock eg. Fox RP23 or similar.
I've considered the rebuild option and the Risse option, but tbh I'd rather adapt the current fixing method to accept pretty much any modern air-shock in order to give me a wider range of options both now and in the future.

So is anyone from the UK able to make a suitable adapter for the rear? or know of someone who can? or have a technical drawing of the part?

I recall seeing a few pics of a rear shock adapter (cone ---> bolt-through) somewhere on here but the pics weren't particularly clear. I'll keep searching.

this is my next project - to replace the Girvin shock (single eyelet/threaded rod) with a twin eyelet shock - Fox float being my primary choice.

I have a near neighbour with a lathe so if you are really stuck, I'll get two pieces made up.

Dunno costs as yet as haven't got much further than the above.

Willie_B, thanks for that link, some good info in there but it looks like although one or two guys have experimented and made "one-off" pieces there doesn't seem to be a clear decision as to which way is best/what works best, and no further talk of any more being made up or being made to order.

02gf74, I have no equipment nor the technical design skills to make such a part, hence I'm relying on another Proflex rider in a similar situation to myself with the necessary skills to make a suitable adapter.
I have no idea of costs either, the material costs should be low, but it will be the labour costs in designing and producing a small custom part like this that will push the price up. Currently though I'd like to push on and find a solution to this problem sooner rather than later as the NR2 shock I'm riding on at present is pretty poor tbh.

Let me know any further developments  ;)

unfortunately for you, I am in no hurry but I expect I'll get round to this in the next couple of weeks.

then there will be some delay whilst the "man with the lathe" makes the part.

my idea is much like the ones posted but I intend to have a hollow tube that slips over the end of the shock to prevent it moving in any direction, something the y-piece yokes do not do.

I have a swinger 3 laying around, waiting for an adapter.
I hadn't had the time to draw the shock and an adapter yet, but it's on my long to do list.
Mine is a 190mm shock, and I'm thinking on a one piece aluminum adaptor.
I believe the swinger main body will touch the frame, so probably the shock must go and get another one.

If someone is going to make a nice adaptor, please let me know!!!  :P

or trim the bottom of the seatpost down a bit? mount the shock "upside-down"?

Is your 190 mm. swinger an air shock? I think it is just about perfect for me.

I mounted my swinger airshock inverted because I did not want mud resting on the seals. But I had to trim the shock mount plates back a tad. It is really not noticable unless you get an upclose look. You can see just below the frame mount.
