Hi purple gerbil,

Well spotted, thats what Jim at the Guilford Bike Project pointed out but I resisted as the frame is quite small and I find it more comfortable at that height.
After your what your friend went through I will be revising my view and lowering the stem.
No only is it high it's over 20 years old!

Dunno the size tho' - ask him to measure the TT length from Headset to seatpost centres, 22.13"/562mm for a Medium and 23.11"/587mm for a Large

Lovely! That's in excellent condition and a great opportunity for someone to buy a real hard tail classic. If I hadn't already bought 2 more frames this year id be seriously tempted.

I'm not eager to sell, I just don't ride it so if it goes to the right home for the right money I'll let it go, got a real good condition 550 for sale too.. Oh and some bushing kits which I'll be putting in eBay shortly..

Had my eye on a 957 on eBay. Did anyone on this board score that one earlier today? I was hoping it didn't go anywhere so I could hit the owner up and try and score it cheap.

I suppose it's for the best that it's gone, it would have been difficult explaining both why I needed and why it's different from the 757. I'm not sure that simply saying it's "cooler" than my 757 would have sufficed.

1998 16 inch Pro-Flex 657 Expert for sale.
Mechanically sound but paintwork quite tatty in places.
XT V-brakes and 8 speed Deore transmission.
Not at all sure what price to ask for it so open to offers.
Probably best if buyer collects as I have been quoted silly prices to have it shipped within the UK.
Might consider meeting prospective buyer within 50 mile radius from home (Brechin, east Scotland).

The problem with collection only is the price of petrol often out ways the cost of the bike. I live in south Wales so recon it would cost about £120 min in petrol alone. Not that I would be up for this as it too small but petrol costs really limit choice these days.

If you get a cardboard bike box from a bike shop, I would expect you could send it via Parcel force or similar courier for under £30
But the Smalls do have a limited market...........

Its a 16" the top shock mount is the same as my 855 tucked up in the frame

errrrmmm, No, the 657 for sale by Gordon below, is actually a 14", i.e. the 657 frame is the same sizings as other "world cup" frames, (x55, x56, XP-X, Beast etc.).

i.e. My Medium XP-X is a 16"

Large is 18" and Way Big is 20"

The actual frame measures from the centre of the BB vertically to the top of the top tube just above the rear sus mount = 16 inches.
Or centre of BB to top of seat post = 18 & half inches.

Don't want to start a frame measurement war though.

It's not my bike, just selling it as part of a late friend's estate. He was about 5 foot 7 (1 metre 70 cm) so would say definitely a small.

Ha ha, no problems! we havn't even started discussing how high the saddle is or not, then things will get lively! <GRIN>

Yes, Can't dispute your "real world" measurements and that is probably what the bike shop used on the receipt. but these bikes came in 4 sizes, 14, 16, 18, 20 and this one is indisputably a Small, therefor according to PRO~FLEX it's a 14".
From new, there would be a size sticker on the seat tube, my Medium has one that says 16" 40.5cm.
But when I take the same measurements as you, I get: the centre of BB to top of top tube 17.25 and 20" to the top of the seat tube.

I believe that the PRO~FLEX sizes of these particular bikes are intended to be centre of BB to centre of top tube, but I'm blowed if I can find anywhere on my bike that measures 16" !
