I've got a silver Proflex 856 frame, Girvin Elite Fork , Ritchey WCS Stem and a set of Carbon Fiber Riser bars, Truvativ Team Carbon Seat Post and a Forte Seat....The frame is an 18". This puppy has been sitting in storage from 1998 until 2007. It was tuned up, ridden for 1/2 season and then I made the cliched jump to a 29er. This frame is in great shape. It has the upgraded Noleen shocks on the Girvin Elite Cosslink Forks. If anyone is interested let me know. It is a great deal for $325

Factory Test 856 on epay. A seven out of ten??? Really? Apart from the sandblasted levers and the grinders on the QR (mounted bass-ackwards) unwound gripshift cable, destroyed pedal and missing elasto-squishie... sure, you betcha! I'd offer but I expect he'd be offended.

I finally found a reasonably priced threading tap to match the ODS shocks. If there is enough interest in some replacement preload adjusters for ODS and GDT shocks I could afford to buy it. I'm working on switching to Noleen shocks on my rigs so won't be making the parts for myself.

Is there a current solution to the disintegrating elastomers? I have an 856 (bought new, large, red, excellent shape) that I got a spring conversion for the front a few years ago, but not the back has gone soft. I really like that bike. I also have a '98 5500 all XTR with Easton carbon bar and seat post that I built in '99. Are these things worth anything anymore?

Replace them with a spring/shock assembly from Noleen at http://shop.noleenj6.com/category.sc;jsessionid=992D641B59A4665305610F8766B502E3.qscstrfrnt02?categoryId=7 Spendy but worth it.

Is your rear strut the cone type? If so, the Noleen will fit right in there but you can also use an ODS shock with different oil and a coil spring. I have used the old style strut with an ODS and spring without problems too.
