Thanks for the links!  A have the newer cone style rear strut on the bike now.   It is good to see that there are some options.
Hello everyone! I'm new and can't figure out how to post a new message. So i'm replying to this one, sorry it is off the topic. I have a 956 pro flex world cup design in great shape except for the elastomers. I'm considering selling or rebuilding, i live in Phoenix az and would like to consult someone who is more knowledgeable on this bike. Please
contact me, ssime2@cox.net if you have any advice. Thank you and have a great day!

Welcome Stacsin.

To start a new topic, look towards the top of the posts on the forum posts page. There is the page numbers to the left, and Icons to the right. If you drag your arrow over the one second to right, it should describe itself as "Start new topic". Click on it.

As far as elastomers, there is a company called Progressive suspension. The sell clear amber polyurethane springs. Sometimes they list on ebay too.  Or Risse Racing makes airshock for them, but the Genesis model can cost you a couple of hundred dollars ea.

Anyway, good luck,
Terry
Thanks Terry, so simple now that you told me!! I'll look into the progressive springs. I would really like to find a set of the COR springs from Rapid Descent in Scotland! I know they are out of business now(bummer), but maybe someone has an extra set laying around. Thanks again, Stacsin

The brain seems to work.  It turns on and can be switched between settings.  The shock itself just has no compression dampening.  I'm just not sure how to disassemble the shock.  Also, if it is under pressure, would the shock need to be sent out after being reassembled to be recharged?

Yes even if you do manage to rebuild it, getting it recharged with nitrogen will the tricky bit. I have several Noleen shocks needing rebuild but its just not cost viable. Good luck

The recharge kit is 25 bucks on ebay and then you just need a bottle of nitrogen.  My source used to be my shop since we used high pressure nitrogen to charge the accumulators for the resin and catalyst systems.

I have two Proflex K2 bikes for sale. Both are brand new. I bought these 10+ years ago. My wife and I road them once and they have been hanging in the garage ever since. One is a K2 Beast, Green and the other is the K2, 657 Silver. Anyone interested can send me an e-mail with an offer to bid. Pictures available. Paid over $1200.00 each back then. will take any reasonable offer...Looking to get about $400.00 ea. Will pack up and ship anywhere in the 48 states...Out of St. Louis. Buyer to split the shipping costs. e-mail...sakris@aol.com

Thats very interesting. I didnt know such a thing was available. I have a compressed gas/air stockist locally. Have you got a link to the recharge kit on ebay? Is it a general kit or a Noleen specific one?

freakish Klein w/girvin fork
« Reply #1013 on: January 10, 2011, 12:49:35 pm »
Check this out.  This guy put a coil spring on a Girvin friction shock.  Sure, it's got an elastomer bump stop in there but wow....  http://cgi.ebay.com/CUSTOM-STREET-KLEIN-MANTRA-COMP-SPINERGYS-GIRVIN-FORKS-/330517473233?pt=Mountain_Bikes&hash=item4cf46067d1  :P

On a more realistic note, here is a 2008 Proflex for sale in Ireland   http://cgi.ebay.com/Mountain-Bike-PROFLEX-668-2008-MTB-Suspension-/250752323191?pt=Mountain_Bikes&hash=item3a6200ce77

OK, here's one for you...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280616677312&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123

now to me it looks like either an 856, or an 857 front end with an 856 rear end stuck on it, so I emailed the seller and got this reply...

THE FRAME IS A 857 LIMITED EDITION FRAME DISTRIBUTED TO TEAMS ONLY AS THE CARBON SWINGARMS WHERE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO TAKE THE ABUSE THIS SAID CARBON SWINGARMS WHERE RELEASED ON ALL BIKES AVALIABLE FROM BIKE SHOPS THIS FRAME I MAY ADD HAS NEVER BEEN BEEN RACED AND IS SIMPLY A SPARE FRAME THAT MY COUSIN SHIPPED OVER FROM THE USA A FEW YEARS AGO

initially I though it sounded like a load of b*llox, but thought I'd ask on here just in case.

btw, at £100 BIN for the frame alone I'm not about to bid on this one :D

His other auction shows a complete proflex but it specifies that the frame with bb and cranks are all that is for sale.  It also seems overhyped too.

I have available:

854 -- Paint, frame and overall condition is excellent. Fork is now Rock Shox. --- Photos available upon request
855 -- Outstanding example of the breed -- Nearly perfect paint, brand new Risse Genesis shocks front and rear, Rapid Descents long travel kit (modified to reduce weight by nearly two pounds), Pauls thumbies w/Shimano Ultegra Barcon shifters, new Specialized Captain tires, new rims and hubs, new 8 speed rear cassette, Race Face crankset (triple), Specialized carbon bars (flat), Zoom seatpost, Fizik saddle, generic stem, Blackburn bottle holderand Avid single digit linear pull brakes. Photos available upon request.

The 854 would be available at a relatively inexpensive price plus actual cost of shipping. The 855 would be available at an appropriate price plus actual cost of shipping. Local pickup and viewing would certainly be welcome. If you have any question please send them to mootsguy@gmail.com

The plan is to put the bikes up on ebay the first of March if no one here wants one or both.

If this is true why has he not said all that in the sale description. Surely it would be an excellent selling point. Its just a 857 frame with a 757 swing arm as Kiwi so rightfully said. They produced a 757 in blue/yellow and this is just the swing arm from one of those. And if the carbon swing arms were not strong enough for racing why did Nora Rosche and the rest of the team race with 857 carbon swing arms on their bikes..
