Hey Dave nice ride like the front shocks. Did you swap out your BB with external bearings? Also do you know what the inside mesurements are on the 819 mavics.  The new rear shock was a great bump up, and the fox is the better of the two I belive it has the full lock out feature. The rock shock Im using only has a three position gate.  Not quite a lock out but very close. The only problem with the fox is trying to find one at a good price.

I just ordered a 2011 fox rp23 new on ebay for 188 bucks. I should have it next week, then ill have to find the correct mounting hardware. Can't wait. My original noleen has some sticheon and the spring is too weak for my 6' , 230 pounds. Looking forward to the lockout feature on the climbs.

I'll try to past Photobucket links:

853 bought new in Jackson, Wyoming. Now No-Flex—elastomers hardened in last couple years:

Ca. 2004 cut stem at 45 and TIG welded to shorten stem and raise handlebars:

Welcome Tom!

Nice 853

That stem's certainly a "one of a kind" ! - Great solution though!

Yep, get them elastomers sorted and you'll have a great ride once again.

Try using the "insert image" button when posting (above posting, 2nd from left, bottom row) and put the photo URL inbetween the "img /img" fields in square brackets for the photo's to appear like magic in your posting.

Thanks, guys!

Here is the photo of the stem fix (come to think of it, I've never taken the stem off the bike or fork--we welded it back together on the bike--after removing the shifters and brake levers, of course):

and the store sticker:

Cheers,
Tom

Just bought a lightly used 856 for occasional trail riding and winter commuting.   Took my first commute on the bike yesterday--16 miles round trip--and it was great!

Yeah, I'm afraid so.

I biked a lot in my early teens, pre-driver's license.  Then not so much for the next 35-40 years.  Started biking to work this past summer and enjoyed it a lot.

As a result, I wasn't following the mountain bike industry when the ProFlex line was the hot new thing.     I had never even thought about it until a co-worker offered to sell his.

My first thought was, "what a strange looking bike."   But the look grew on me and when I read up on some of the history of the bike, I became hooked!

i mounted up my new FOX RP23 last weekend, it started snowing friday. coudn't ride untill today, to work this morning, 16 degrees out, still a little snow on the ground but i coudn't wait any longer. what a difference a shock can make. i work a little over a mile from home, 1/2 mile up hill then a mile down hill to work. it felt really good, no clunking, no pogo stick, no sticheon. cant wiat to hit some local trails. another great side effect was shaving a pound off the weight of the bike. 27.2 pounds now for a evo that weighed 31 ish when i started this build.
