what kind do you all drink if any

Lately my fav is 'Fat Tire' maybe 'cuz it hasn't been available out here in CA until recently and has a pic of a bike on the label.

and uh, MGD is my standby. When I am out and about I still like "real" Lowenbrau

...can't get the real stuff here

i am not a connesuir so often my favourite is the latest "new " label i spot on a friday night after work few drinks sessiion,I have been quaffing speights old dark but last night i tried a 'Wicked Blonde" from a local boutique brewery.I am not talking about the leggy blonde behind the bar either!

Victory Hopdevil. Brewed in Downingtown, PA and quite possibly the worlds best I.P.A. My standby beer is Molson(any flavor). I do enjoy Fat Tire when I'm in AZ. Can't get it here in southern PA.

At last a topic I can relate to !

I have consumed vast amounts of Red Stripe over the last few [15] years cos it is all you can get in Jamaica. It's a decent beer but I pine for good old Yorkshire bitter or draft Guinness [it's good for you].
When in the usa I opt for Pete's Wicked Ale or whatever the local micro brewery has to offer.

Matno are you serious ! Does Utah have beer cos I am going to cancel my October Moab trip if not!

Actually I am on a beer sabbatical right now in an attempt to regain my fitness and sanity.

My favs used to be Sam Adams and Heiny, but then I haven't had a beer for over 10 years now. maybe more like 13 or 14, but who's counting? I decided at some point that I had alot of fun using my brain to think about and figure out stuff, and that alcohol just got in the way of that. I must thank Dr. Feynman, the nobel prize-winning physicist for that insight.

When I'm out down the pub (rarely these days [smiley=upset.gif]) a pint or many more of HSB (local brew) or old speckled hen is a fave real ale,other than that some weak old lager,fosters,budweiser,carling black label,etc,
used to work for a brewery many years ago (Bass,now owned by Coors)
Boy do I miss all that free beer

Not to worry. Utah has beer, it's just "watered down" (seriously, except for imports, it has a lower alcohol content than anywhere else). Moab has plenty of beer (and the lowest percentage of Mormons of any county in the state). I've heard there are decent microbreweries down there, whatever that means.

Little known beer fact about Utah - there was more beer served at the 2002 winter olympics than at the previous 3 or 4 winter olympics combined. (Not that I think that's a good thing, but now you know...)

Oh, and one more thing, here's my favorite beer joke:

Q: What's the difference between beer nuts and deer nuts?
A: Beer nuts are $1.25. Deer nuts are just under a buck...

Besides, even without the beer, Moab is worth riding! (Although I'd have to recommend that you spend at least one day in St. George on the other side of the state. Gooseberry Mesa is an incredible technical playground).

matno, they served more beer because it was watered down !

we are planning to do Moab without a car, flying into Salt Lake and then taking a shuttle bus to Moab and staying downtown. I reckon we can do a lot of riding from town [correct me if I'm wrong !]. So won't be able to hit Gooseberry Mesa this trip. Hopefully I'll make it in the future.

my old standby would have to be labatt blue, but any molson would work in a pinch. i've tried many a microbrew and most of them were pretty decent. all major american beers i.e. bud, miller, coors stink. cant stand any of them.

I'm with Simon - Gales HSB (stands for Horndean Special Bitter - or Hi speed Beer for those in the know!

I have tried the Fat Tyre mentioned above - not a bad pint (even if US pints are rather small!). I drank it when skiing at jackson Hole Wyoming two years ago.

The local brewery also dis Snake River which was very nice. The biggest problem with the US home brews was they still put gas in the dark beers - it's the only way they can get themn out of the barrel and is a great way to ruin what was otherwise excellent USA made beer!

Never drink that piss water called lager - leave that to the Aussie and the Kiwis (sorry guys - joke!) - prefer the old red wine if not on dark beer.

sprucey sprucey.......darn it there is a beer "week" here this week ..all sorts of boutique brewers pushing their wares,restaurants serving label specific mealsYour cruell dig leaves me in utter despair.....NOT!At least with our cool clear crisp lagers you know what you are drinking.The black syrup tjat you guys call beer could disgiuse water from the thames....... ;Il scull a couple for ya maaate....

My new favorite is Franziskaner wheat beer. Fat Tire is good too. We're getting it in regular rotation here in Atlanta now.

If you like extreme beer -- beer that's not smooth and wimpy-- you should track down Terrapin Beer (www.terrapinbeer.com). They're a local microbrew out of Athens, GA and the guys are really cool. The beer's good too, plus they sponsor my new MTB team -- always a plus [smiley=nod.gif]
