Here's a great question: Rear vbrk cable on 957...

I am rehabilitating my friends 957. I am purchasing Deore M510 vbrakes. I have a 98 Proflex/K2 2000 and always had a problem with the brake cable routing around the swingarm. You know what I am talking about, if you put the cable outside the swingarm, your foot rubs against the cable. If you rest the cable on top of the swingarm, braking feels mushy. What gadgets, fixes, noodles, etc. have you used to fix this problem?
Thanks for looking,
-Dave

I used a standard 90 v-noodle into the cable stop which routes the cable up and over the swingarm on both my wife's and my 957 and on a friends 857. Also, instead of brake housing use derailleur housing. That should help firm up the feel of the rear brake.

Try one of these.

You can use these with a canti-brake lever and v-brake or with a v-brake lever and v-brake.
That should fix the problem.
