It's back!
« on: February 17, 2004, 09:18:30 am »
About a month ago, I had a bike stolen from me.  Well, I got a call from my shop, saying that it came in and they have it.  This news made my month...
Apparently, the guy bought it in downtown Cincinnati for $25.  The reason why he brought it in to the shop was the front brake QR was undone and he didn't know how to put it back together.
I don't think I'll press charges on the guy who bought it b/c the BSG said he was very cooperative and stuck around for the police to answer their questions.  I think if it were the person who stole it, he would have run.  Yes, receiving stolen property, but if it weren't for that guy, I wouldn't have it back.  He didn't put up any fuss...
As far as the bike goes...it's dirty, hasn't been taken care of at all.  But a little lovin' will take care of that.
Now the question is...what the heck am I gonna do with all the parts I've just bought to put together a new bike??
Life could be worse...

hang the parts on a new bike and then sell the old one...it's not bad karma at all to do that, trust me! [smiley=laughing.gif]

For what it's worth I think you should have even given the guy the $25 bucks he paid for it.

Congrats! I say keep the old bike, it came home to you. Yeh, I would've paid home boy $25 bucks too. What are the odds of that?

It was my old hardtail, which I bought in 1996.  It's got a lot of miles, plus many races.  A little worn, but taken care of.
